I'm going camping on a beach in Astoria (north of Washington) in week. The beach is PEERRRRFECT for bashing on. The sand is kind of black and hard packed. Will I be ok driving my MBX-5 along with my bro's X1-CR on there? What should we do to prep? Would it be a disaster? Details please! :) Thanks.

Seal everything,And make sure everythings sealed, and not leaking, and everythings sealed.

You got to make sure all your electronics are sealed, if they are, go back and make sure everything is sealed. When you’re done just keep in mind to keep everything sealed.
Last but not least, keep everything sealed…
Did I happen to mention to keep everything sealed?

other than that just make sure you do what Imbroken and GotNitro said above.

Make sure it's legal first! Then make sure it's sealed if you plan to run on the sand and then how much time you want to spend cleaning it up afterwards, especially the bearings

Hey bro before you run it on the beach make sure you seal everything....Very important. Make sure your air filter is tightly secured. It's a blast to run ir sand but it's a pita the clean afterwards.

Have fun!

I would bring a can of compressed air to use when you are done. Your airfilter would be the first place I make sure to seal. Make sure you grease the base of the air fiter if you are using a Motorsaver and both top and base if using a standard filter. Expect to have bits all over. Soak your bearings as soon as you can to clean them out.

These guys above are off....Just seal EVERYTHING.

Hmmmm.... So it kinda sounds like you guys are trying to say "seal everything," but its been kind of hard to figure that out. Everyone was talking jibberish! jk, so take out my servos and rx and cover them TIGHTly with balloons? Anything else I need to seal?

I'm not sure i want to use plasti-dip because this is the first time I've brought my car to the beach, and i dont go that often. I know i would be better off bringing my MSR, but my fricken servo motor (358) got all weak and slow, so theres nothing else I have thats strong enough to turn the beast.

Maybe your butt? Maybe it's just me, but I HATE sand up my butt (but I hear Sweetdiesel PURPOSELY puts sand up his butt, reminds him of prison!)

It may be a stretch and not worth doing, but maybe think about fashioning some temporary mud flaps? I know you can't prevent ALL the sand from getting in there, but having them may help somewhat!

At any rate, enjoy the trip and have fun!

Haha, yeah... I usually do that, but for some reason i dont think I'm feelin it for this time :hehe:

Mud Flap's are a good idea!

I see a complete tear down in your future. To think of sand in my bulkheads, steering assembly....headache.

Yeah, I do that anyways. Not a problem. I am the most worried about getting sand in my engine.... That would suck.

aight. I'm gonna try MW's idea and make mud flaps... Also, my brother came up with his first good Idea ever. Duct tape the body to the chassis so no extra sand can get in from roost. There would definitally be less sand in the car after, but still enough to have to seal everything.

Buggyracer did you ever make a set of mudflaps for your beach trip? I'd like to see them.

Never even brought it to the beach. My cars werent ready, then i kept forgetting about bringing them every time i went. But, this summer i am bringing them to this specific spot on the beach where there are like no people so it should be perfect. Ill tell you about it when i go. I never made the flaps though.
