Drift start an RC?

So, I just come across a guy that push starts his rc car. It’s on you tube. Pretty dang genius.

There are tons of people here that know way more about RC nitros than me. Which is why I’m posting this.

Anyone here ever done this, Does it weaken the clutch bell? Any other side effects I’m not foreseeing? How bout it?

If you are talking about this then yes, it'd absolutely work, but I don't know about the friction of that spring with the clutchbell on idle. I've never seen this before, really great idea.

I’m like you. However, The guy in the video say the spring kicks out of the way due to centrifugal force. I’m Just not sure it’s going to work for a long time.
 
the guy in video has modified his clutch....never seen that little lever he moves up and on the flywheel b4 .
