That does not sound that much different than ours.

Just because we have a death penalty, does not mean we actually use it very much.

To me, if a person is sentenced to death, he should immediately be led into the chamber and gassed right there in the court house. No appeals. No life sitting on death row. No bleeding heart politicians getting in the way. Just game over.

If you could guarantee no miscarriage of justice, I'm all with you. Sadly we see quite a few examples of people having served many years, only to be proven innocent years later.

A system as absolute as the one you're speaking of, needs to be infallible. Even god can't live up to that. Why else would there be lightning rods on churches?

But a sick individual indeed. Maybe his defense will be temporary insanity on account of the snoring.

Of the people you are referring to who were actually proved innocent years later, how many were actually sentenced to death?

Even if sentenced to death, 99% of them will just sit in their cell till the day they die. IMO, they should be sentenced, then brought directly to firing squad.

I have no idea. But in my opinion, one is one to manny. I do understand
your demand for swift justice. Over here economic crime is almost punished harder than rape and murder. Rape a woman: 3-6 months, embezzle a few businesses: 3-4 years. How messed up is that?

I have to agree, there have been quite a few innocent people convicted, sentenced to death, and then proven innocent where there is not even a shadow of doubt that they are innocent. If there was a way to make sure that we're ONLY killing the innocent ones, I believe that if you have a death penalty, then you should go on and carry it out. However, I also know that after spending time in a federal satellite prison, I woud rather get the death penalty than true life.

Walk into a bank, kill the guard in front of 20 customers and 6 tellers. YOU ARE A MURDERER! Steal the money, YOU ARE A BANK ROBBER!
Walk outside, get arrested, you're only a "suspect" entitled to bond out and get a free lawyer to drag it on for years.
According to Ron White, from Redneck Comedy Tour, a new law they're working on in Texas takes you right to the front of the line with absolutely no appeals process if you committed the murder in front of at least 3 credible witnesses. You'll get no argument from me.
That law should be enacted in ALL 50 states.
