way back in my garage I found a engine. it was a McCoy .19 RedHead airplane engine. my dad said when he was 13 wich is 40 years ago he was bulding a airplane and it was done. so he goes to the hobby shop picks up the mill and heads home. but when he got home his cat ATE the airplane. and that was that. and so the poor little McCoy never got to run. so my ? is after all these years could this little engine still run? I know I would have to take it apart and unfreze it. but could the age have any affect on it?

THANKS

Nice find. I'm not really sure but being in the cold all that time may have hurt it.

well, i took out the glow plug it had on it and it glows, and i look down in it and no rust, just lots and lots of dust

Nice find:) If there is no rust it should run, you will most likely need to rebuild the carb as the seals are porbably shot. Keep us posted on how it turns out for your new old engine.

well the funny thing is . . . that it doesn't have a carb!! its got a 1 needle ajustment and thats all. no likages nothing just one little stick that points out of the bottem of the engine. my dad says that it was made for a free flight airplane. but I think I could put in a 2 channel radio to steer it

Mike as long as there is not rust little man you should be cool just squirt a little after run oil in there and turn her over by hand a while and loosen it up before you try to run it. X

thanks x thats all what i wanted to know and have a happy turkey day

got it un stuck

just some after run oil and it goes up and down like new. and the glowplug still glows! also, when I said that it doesn't have a carb I ment the its for WOT only and the one needle is the mixture setting for that speed:D

Hmmm. It sounds to me like your father built an old fashioned string flyer. Basicly all it could do was fly in a circle attached to a handle with two strings controling the alerons. I have flown them when I was younger, great fun. I also converted one into a swamp buggy:D Lasted one run before I lost it. You can hook up a servo control to the primary needle, if you are interested in how, let me know.

yep thats what the old dude at my lhs said. my frind had one it lasted 5 flies until he whonted to do stunts:(
