haha guys, basically... As we know, you can buy a bottle of paint for a good amount of money ($4.89 for a 3 oz. can at my lhs) And ya know, its "top knotch" I realize, this paint is special because its made for lexan and it can bend with the body and shouldnt chip away, right?

Ok, so I'm just wondering if those spray paint cans containing paint made for plastic. Like mine, here:

They say they are meant to adhere to all plastics, so why wouldnt it work? Is this just another case of how much your LHS rips you off? This tall can is pretty much the same price, for 4 times as much paint!

I'm just curious, what do you guys use? (Besides you airbrushers)

I've used that stuff before as a backer. It worked just fine for me.

Only time I used a rattle can, was when I 1st got into the hobby. I used a can of House of Color Candy green. It lasted about a week and then 90% chipped off. (was auto paint).

While looking at paints, I noticed how crazy the prices were for spray cans.. Good lord. Then shipping is crazy too.

Ok, so basically you say its fine as long as it says its for plastic? Just dont go out and buy any spray paint, because auto paints dont work.

correct?

My only experiance with it was as a backer, and for that it worked fine. Worth a try though.

I tried Krylon fusion (for plastic) it started flaking after the first hard roll. The lexan bodies flex a lot more than the plastic those paints are made for.

Yeah, that serves a good point. Because as we know, not all plastics are the same.

I just wish I didnt have to pay $5 a can for a 1 or 2 body paintjob. And thats only for one color paintjob. 2 colors, and your already at $10

just get a airbrush. Even a cheapy one will let ya do more than a rattle can can and will be chaper in the long run. You can get a adapter to fit on your air compressor and your good to go.

I thought about that, but paint is like $3 a bottle for that, then the airbrush for $20. I dont get many bodies, because of how much paint costs.

Get the airbrush, it'll save you money in the long run. Been airbrushing things for a few years now and have found that I use less paint when I airbrush.
