We lost a good fishing buddy and a gentleman.
He was buried today. Do you suppose that we could learn something from this? I can.

Too bad his words are often lost on today's video game fed/bred youth.

sorry about going off topic in a serious thread. but thats not true... my english class right now is painfully doing all of emersons and trancendentalism =\ its not tottally lost :x

I was once involved with a person who liked to point out how poorly she felt I handled my relationships. With my friends, family, kids and everyone else. After she was gone, I realized something simple about life. To die with only one good friend still makes you a very rich man.

I for one can absolutely learn something from that. Thank you!

Its always reminders such as these that make you realize how good you have it, even if to only try to be a better person to someone else, not just yourself.

Sorry for your loss.

This statement in and of itself is a contradiction, but that is okay. You will understand Emerson and his peers a little more as you get older. Then it will make more sense and seem to be wisdom vice pain.

Ralph Waldo Emerson's poetry is something to ponder; at times some of it can be painful depending on the context that it is used in. I've been so guilty of forgetting whom I am and were I came from. This one's been a wake up call.

His name was Tom Dunnigan, he was 64 years old or young depending on your views. He was a man's man, a gentleman and fishing was his passion. Many will miss him... but I can tell you that we all feel a hell of a lot better after a good 'ol Irish Wake!... it's what he wanted.

Thanks for showing compassion gentlemen.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, buddy.
A few weeks ago, I went through a few tough days because my lifelong friend was going through a heart problem. All worked out well, and he's fine now, but it really makes you think.
I lost way too many friends and relatives through the years, and it's made me realize that you never know who will be around tomorrow, so never leave anything unsaid.
