Diffs

Just wondering if anybody had problems with there front diff on there xl.I only have rear wheel drive now,and just noticed that the spur gear woobles some but the screw that holds the spur gear on is tight.This is my first rc,so any help with what I should do,look for,and do,would be greatly helpfull. Thanks

Check your front center axle cups to see if you lost one of the pins that hold the cup on the shafts. When running, lift the rear tires off the ground and give it gas with the front tires making contact. See where you can see shafts spin. You could have also spun a single wheel hex or snapped a wheel hex pin. If so, you will see that front shaft spin as the tires don't.

I just bought 2 XL diffs off ebay for my old savage. They aren't 100% interchangeable with the old 21/25 diffs, but considering the machining on the gears, the alloy cup, 4 spider gears and hardened steel holders for the spider cross pins, I can't imagine they won't last a fairly long time. They are a 100% improvement over the old diffs.

Thanks again olds97_lss for the info.Checked the front axel cup when I got home from work and low and behold the pin is MIA.Ordering pin plus spares in the morning.Thanks again for helping me out before,now again.

No problem.

I'd suggest findind some good thread lock fir those. Not red stuff, but rather the loctite thread lock gel or stick. Both work really good on course threads and it's all I use anymore on everything. The old watery stuff never did nearly as good a job as the gel or stick.
