Ok guys I am not sure you guys have come across this problem before but here is the skinny.

I was running my Ofna Lx comp and I saw that as it ran the front wheels were pulling way harder than the rear I have looked at all the diffs and see no diference in them physically but I re did the diff fluid anyway. still the same thing. I am not sure whats happening but i am worried that its gonna burn out my center diff or ruin my clutch in some way shape or form. I am not sure that any of that can happen but I have since stopped running it and again rebuilt all three diffs inspected all of them for any type of binding. I was thinking to replace the front diff with the rear diff and vise versa to see if the problem reverses it self. Like now that the rear diff is in the front and the front in the rear the rears would run harder than the fronts and i would see that the diff would be the problem but I am not sure switching the front for the rear and the rear for the front would hurt the buggy?

Also have the problem that the clutch engages very late in the rpm range. Sort of like super high RPM range. Its revs up then engages ? thats definately not normal but what can I do about it ?

I know its usually one problem per thread but I figured its so close that no one would mind.

The front and rear diff only differentiate/send the power to the wheels the diff is attached too. Your problem is with the center diff oil wt being less viscous (too light in weight) and when the weight on the front wheels is reduced as in a hard take off or during hard throttle input the center diff, diffs out and sends most or all of the power to the front wheels.
Heavier wt oil in the center diff will proportion the power output more evenly to the front and rear, the heavier the oil the more proportional the power will be to each diff.

As for the clutch, it could be the shoes are worn; the spring(s) are too strong, shoes/clutch bell glazed or oil saturated. You just need to remove the bell to have a look to find the problem.
 
In addition to what Snook said I would also check all the bearings starting with the center diff and working all the way back to the rear wheels. Any binding or dragging in those drivetrain bearings could cause both of the problems you mentioned.
 
I have at the moment I have all the diffs out and all the bearings out and takinga good long hard look at eall the possibilities that were mentioned in the replies. I have not found anything as of yet with any binding bearings. I will keep you guys updated.
 
When on power it will seem like the front is pulling harder because of the weight of your buggy shifting to the rear. All buggies do this. Even with heavier dif oil but will be reduced some.. Ajust your rear springs to pick up the back end a little and it will help. but as for the front grabbing or pulling harder is normal and nothing to worry about. As for your clutch if the shoes are not worn and springs are ok take a piece of green scotch bright and scrub the inside of your clutchbell and the edges of the shoes to remove any glazzing that may be on them. if this doesn't work I would replace them.:first_place:

I have done just that with the bell and the shoes and I think I may have brought back some new life to some old shoes and bell. Thanks for the great tip and the reply.
 
I'm going with oil weight in the center diff. Front tires ballooning on take off are a sure sign of thin or no center diff oil.
 
Looked into that and the results were tha the center diff still had oil. Its that the weights were not what I thought they were and the fronts where so thin that it was not giving any resisitance at all and that was causing the balooning in the front tires
 
Do you race or bash? As a basher, I used 50K in my center diff when I had a buggy. Really tamed down the power transfer to the front tires. I also used 30K in the front/rear diffs. I'm sure it would have made the buggy useless on a track, but was still cool to pull slap wheelies... and helped avoid getting hung up while bashing off road since all 4 tires have power going to them all the time even if one is off the ground.

I can see that you have gotten a lot of good advice.

There is one other thing that will contribute to too much front drive (front tires ballooning) and that is too much front droop. If you allow your front arms to have too much downward travel the front of the buggy will be lifted up high when accelerating and this will transfer so much weight to the rear tires that the front tires will be unloaded to the point that they will balloon up.

Try limiting the amount of front droop a little and see if that helps some.

Wow what great advice learned something new on the clutch part but on dirt oval our front always pulls harder nothing to worry about it helps in turns
