BackPlate? i can gess what the carb neck is, but not sure,

The backplate is the plate behind the ez starter. The ez starter bolts up to it and the backplate bolts up to the engine.

uh so the fact i am missing a screw conecting the ez starter to the backplate is a problem right?

The Backplate is behind the Pullstart or Ez-Start assembly. Remove the Pullstart or Ez-Start and then take note of how the one way bearing is. SPin it one way to find out how it should go back in when you are done. Remove the screws that secure the back plate to the crank case. clean the backplate with Denatured Alcohol or nitro clean and wipe it dry with a clean rag . NO DIRT OR FOREIGN PARTICLES CAN REMAIN. Apply a thin layer of RTV Silicone on the seal and just past it. A little can go a long way so don' gob it up. Make sure there is no silicone anywhere else. Reapply the Backplate on the case and tighten the screw back on. Don't do it too much wher you strip the thread on the case. Do the same thing with the carb neck. just up at the top near the seal and no where else. place it back on and tighten the screw or clinch nut. Let this cure overnight. Don't rush. Let us know if you have any more questions.

I think i found my problem. But i'm still checking my seals. I have pics of the backplate.

forgot to say what the problem was. I had a temp fix on my car by using a screew that has the same thead but diffrent head to hold onto the cluch bell. It was rubbing against the trany.

If you look close enough you will see it is the lighting. i dunno what about the screew could it e the culpret?

You should run some RTV around it (as stated above, do not use much). I don't know about the screw, could you take some pics?

tha screew i getting replaced. Thanks to SkyLine_Racer. The problem was it was rubbing against the trany.

oh those. The crank shaft is the same and i though a screew was needed there. That is the 4-tech

Yeah, i had no idea what the screw was for because i had always used the e-clip. But when i got my sirio .27 for my t-maxx, there was no e-clip slot, so i had to use a screw and some shims...

well the question was will that cause problems so, will it?

do the screew that hold the backplate need lock tight?

Yes, it is a good idea to put loctite on them. No, i dont think that the screw rubbing to tranny case was the problem. It only rubs for so long, and then it wears a path in it (did it to me as well).

Let me see if I get this straight. The screw at the front of the motor where the bell clutch is touching the trans and you want to know if this affects the back plate? It should not as the two are generally not related.

If you are missing a screw that holds on your back plate you will need one before you reassemble that plate to the motor.

Take the screw out of the front of the crankshaft. You don't need it.

.21Rc10GT .21Rc10GT .21Rc10GT copy/paste, copy/paste.

Replace the seal before you silicone the backplate, LazyDave. That's the cause of your air leak.
