Did I blow a Servo?

So I am going to need a new servo? Not the little arm thing a big box thing?

If you can hear the servo operate and the steering doesn't work, it's the servo. Just look at whats going on. The servo(plastic, black box with the wires coming out of it) is connected to the drag link(small shiny arm with the black ball joints on the ends), the drag link is connected to the bell crank(the inside part that the long shiny arms with the black ball joints that connects to the carriers, which your wheels/tires are attached to). Correct terminology is important. You have to know what the parts are called in order to properly diagnose a problem. Your manual should tell you the names of the parts. Now, before you replace the servo, pop the horn off(part that directly bolts to the servo with one screw) and see if the horn's splines are stripped. It's possible, but since your steering operates in one direction and not the other, it leads me to believe that the servo has stripped gear(s).

I just took the servo apart and none of the gears are broke or missing teeth. could it be water got into the eletrical of the servo?

Also whats the difference between a 3kg and a 6kg servo?

How's the steering feel with the link disconnected from the servo? It should be loose and smooth. I'm willing to bet that the output splines are stripped, or possibly the horn. 6kg is twice as much torque as 3kg. Water would most likely cause glitching or complete failure.

i used to go through servos like it was my job... if i remember correctly you said it was clicking or ticking if so you most likely have stripped teeth somewhere in the servo or on the horn....whenever my steering was messed up it was a result of stripped teeth.. i kno you said you took apart the servo and checked the teeth but do it again jsut to make sure and like what matt said check the horn again as well. sometimes its kinda hard to see the teeth just make sure.. and if it is I'm sure every hobby shop has a rebuild kit where all youd have to do is replace the parts n ur good to bash
