So I have just gotten a VERY dirty maxx, looks like its been sitting in a pile of dust and crud for 10 years after being ran and oil dumped all over it(only somewhat of an exaggeration). I want to clean it all up but want to try and clean most of the crap away first. I have never used denatured alcohol to clean a t-maxx yet but this one it will be required a few times I'm sure. I was pretty amazed to put a glow plug into it, fuel, and it just start right up. What kind of alcohol do you guys use? I know that there are quite a few different denatured alcohols, that is why I ask. Other than it being so dirty, it seems to be a great t-maxx. BTW, this is my 3rd now. I think that I am going to sell this one and my other 2.5r in the near future after I get a little bit of use out of them and fix some small things. I will keep my flm t-maxx with the os21tm of course even though its a pig. I will have to get some good before and after pics of this thing. I was shocked.

I just grabbed the first denatured alcohol can I saw at Lowe's or Home Depot. I believe it's in a red and blue can. Mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with water and put it in a spray bottle, works like a champ for me. Simple Green mixed the same way would work too.

I typically won't mix DA with water. By mixing it with water, you actually turn it into rubbing alcohol, and you run the risk of rusting metal parts it comes in contact with. DA has no water so it fully evaporates even if you miss wiping down a spot. I will typically spray with DA, brush, and then blast with air.
I do also recommend Simple Green as Mr Clean said. Mix it 50/50 with water. Spray the rig. Brush and blast. Works like a charm. Just watch your electronics. The liquid loves to wreak havoc with the rx and servos.

Yea, I was going to pull the electronics, pull the engine and spray down with 100% alcohol, and spray it off with air compressor. I am not spending the extra money on so called nitro cleaner because it is basically the same thing. I also wont buy a can of air to dry my nitro, that seems like a huge waste of money. A few cans of air is the same price as a really cheap air compressor. :P

When it's all cleaned up, spray it with a 50/50 mix of Armoral and water and blow that off with an air hose. It will look better than it looked out of the box, and it will also make it easier to clean next time.
