I'm a squidgy fumbling Olde Faerte with numbed arthritic fingers. After standardizing on DEANS TYPE CONNECTORS for mist systems except TRAXXAS, I had a difficult time getting a good grip on my plugs and jack's. Used good soldering technique ( I've worked on sub-atomic particle accelerators and detectors ). One of those wire holders with alligator clips on them was very helpful, ( I drink waaaaay too much coffee )when soldering wires to the DEANS. Also used heat-shrink all in the name of preventing short circuits. Still, had the problem gripping. Was always afraid that even either hood soldering, the wires could be codiscontented. I decided to use high temp hot- melt adhesive which is electrically non-conducting layered with insulating string/twine to add a final layer of insulation and an enlarged grab point to make it easier to plug and unplug the connectors ( see PIX ). Some other things I do. When I need color-coded wires or heat-shrink, I make sure wires and heat-shrink are light colors preferably WHITE. FINE-TIP SHARPIES of different colors and different numbers of bands help with wire ID. There is something called LIQUID ELECTRICAL TAPE ( PIX ) which I use for water-proofing and wire ID. When my jumping and bashing vehicles started having their batteries slide around I found that a thin coat of this liquid electrical tape adds friction to hold batteries in place as well.

I can't stand Deans just because they are ridiculously hard to disconnect. XT60's are much easier so I switch to them whenever I get a rig that has them. But that is a good idear.
