First battery pack, running at 50% and I loose steering. Pull a 180 in the snow to come back to me, wheels return to straight, and no more. Investigation reveals a split servo saver arm. Looks like Arrma will send me a warranty replacement, but I feel an upgrade may be a good idea. There was no contact or wrecks so why put another weak link in? Thoughts from you folks? @Doom! @Tunedfrog @Greywolf74 and others?

I've always went with, "if it isn't broke then don't fix it" but if something does break, I always go with an upgrade.
As far as your Arrma, I couldn't tell ya what upgrade are available.
I only have the old Mega version of the Typhon so not sure if it is the same as the Grom series or not, nor do I remember if I've replaced it or not.
If Arrma sends you the part then I would put it aside and install an upgrade.

That was my thinking, keep the replacement for an extra. So far the only upgrades I am seeing are aluminum, but that should be ok if it is properly adjusted.
 
Keep one thing in mind if you go with aluminum, it looks nice for sure but
it adds weight so it slows down the rig and after a bad crash, aluminum bends and doesn't
return to it's original shape, plastic does.
I recommend using RPM RC
 
This is strictly my opinion...I own a Granite and Mojave Grom, and the Losi Nascar (which is still the Grom platform), and I seriously don't think servo savers are necessary on such a small/light car. If you are still convinced that you want to run a servo saver, Hot Racing makes an aluminum upgrade that is a direct fit. Also, and just my opinion, I think the stock servo is lacking, so I run aftermarket servos (with metal gears) and no servo saver. The steering is much more precise and I have not run into any issues with blowing out the servo gears.
As an aside, I still have 2 stock Grom servos with servo savers if you want them. Just PM me your address and they are yours (my dime)
 
Great offer @MB401 , but I was thinking of a solution like yours. Do you remember what servo and arm you used? If it has to come apart I like to do it right. Also have to see if I can pull the pan skid to get to the esc platform screws….

Nicely done @MB401 Have an upgrade servo saver coming to get her back on the road. However, I have bookmarked the info you sent and will get a strong servo and arm in the parts stash. Even with a new upgrade saver on it will only be a matter of time before the original servo takes a holiday ;)

@MB401 Did you use the recommended mini bec or is it working ok straight up? I have all stock electronics at this point. Thx.
 
I don't run stock electronics in my Groms but I also don't use an external BEC either - without any issues
