Credit card ?

Yes, that is a good point, but check cards can work two ways; debit card and check card. I use Fifth Third bank and their advice was to always use the credit card option when using the card, rather than the debit card option at fuel pumps, self-swipe machines at stores and the like. If you use it as a debit card (i.e. as if you are pulling cash from an ATM) you may be charged that $1.50 transaction fee.

Eddy is right, in that you may be on the hook for fraudulent activity and the like. Fifth Third will cover fraud if the card is used as a credit card, but you may want to ask your bank first, just to be sure.
