Hey guys. Been a while. Just curious to see if any of you souther boys catch crawfish. I'm sure you do. Just wondering if anybody uses a home made or comercially made trap? Pics? Willing to sell one or two?

Nah, its too much trouble to go out and catch them, unless you have the right kind of land (rice field to flood). Usually just buy them at like $1.10 per lb. then cook em up.

If your interested in buying a few traps I look into it for you but shipping will be killer! One of my friends dad runs a few crawfish lakes.

WOW, thats a great price! They are going for $2.50-2.75 per pound around here, they are always high until after Easter.

Used a dry suit and caught a bunch of crawdads at Donner Lake a few years back. We had a couple of traps and herded them into the traps during the dive.

Good eats for sure, but it sure was a lot of work.

flandersander, these are the traps I'm referring to. These are normally used in a crawafish pond which is normally around 2-3 feet deep. The lakes I used to run were around 40 acres each and these traps were set in rows about every 10-20 feet....A lot of freaking traps in one pond! We drop bait into the hole at the top and let it sit (the white ring is above the water level), the traps are checked once or twice a day depending on how good the pond is.
