Crashed the GT-4

My brother was driving it at a relative's house, and the car was going pretty slow, 25mph at full throttle. So we assume it's a dragging clutch but don't have any way to fix it at the moment. So, my brothers doing laps around the culdesac, and all of the sudden it goes from around 15mph to 25mph in very little time, and unluckily hops the curb straught into a decorative rock, does a barrel roll(3 full rotations in the air)lands right side up on the cement with an obviously uncorked header. I run over to kill the engine but it stalls before I get there. Quick inspection reveals a VERY mangled header, but thankfully nothing else. The batteries were full and we were well within radio range, so the only thing I can think of is the clutch fixing itself, but I'm a newbie, I'm not one to know. I'll have pictures of the header, and I definitely need a new one, this one is very scraped up and bent more than an inch out of place. So, this whole description ends with me asking what header I should get, I have a Yokomo RX18 engine, and the pipe is perfect, but I already wanted a new one, so I guess I'll buy a set and sell the old pipe for $10 if anyone wants it.

I am one of the few that also has a GT4. Love that car. It was once an RTR and now, after someone asked me what is RTR on the car, it is almost pro spec.

Anyway, the best header for you to get is probably the stock Yokomo one. One of the best pipes to get for the money is the Paris Ribbed pipe. Also the Team Associated one is good. I have not heard of any good aftermarket side exhaust headers other than the stock yokomo one. The shape is perfect for the design of the car.

As for why the car jumped speeds so quickly, it could be a number of reasons. I once had a small pebble in between the clutch bell and flywheel which caused almost the same thing when the rock popped out. Also a rock inbetween the wheel and hub will do something similar. A rock stuck in the break or the breaks being stuck on something.

I need to know if the car was rolling freely when the car is off and the break is not engaged.

The car was rolling freely, a likely cause is the rock in the clutch bell, they live in a rural area with lots of pebbles.

before each run, roll the car to make sure it rolls free and the clutch bell spins freely also.
