Hey dudes,

I tore down my whole buggy and have started to clean the stupid POS. Anyways, I did a search on good cleaning. I found a bunch of stuff, but not about electronics, particularly servos. I figured out how a servo comes apart(Unintentially Unfortunatly). I'm puzzled on whether you clean the motor & gears, just the gears, or just the motor?

I'd also like to know what you're supposed to use to clean it. I think someone said Denatured Alchol, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for help in advanced,
Todd

i use the alchol a rag and some q tips on the engine and stuff. as far as the electronics i dont use anything. i just use an old towel and the q tips. i dont use no chemicals. i can afford to buy new electronics at the moment.

Well denatured alcohol is good to clean circuit boards,as it evaporates fast and does not leave any residue.

I never open my servos to clean them,as all are sealed pretty good and I use silicone selants where dust can creep.Gears could be cleaned with compressed air,and lubricated a bit in servos.

For dust use a can of compressed air, mostly used on pc to blast dust off the hardwares.
For curcuited electronic boards, never use dry cloth to rub off dirt whcih generate static.

Heck! I even threw graphic cards and motherboards in the washer and no worries and damage as long as it's dried well before use :D Other than that... you can use any cleaning solutions as long as it is non corrosive ;)

What about CRC to clean it?
Will that work?

CRC???

Anyway only use clear wator or alcohol,as any residue will not be good. And make 100% sure all liquid EVAPORATED(24 hours to dry over a electric heater,a foot from the heater not to overehat the parts for nothing) before using,or a short is all it takes to make a day worse.

It's an electrical cleaner.

Next time you are at the auto store look for it. Not sure how good it would work on servos, should be ok. Be sure to lube it after using it, of course. But it doesn't leave a residue. Have used it on large electrical motors, relays and such.
