dam it not having a good weekeend with my savage.
i just rounded off one of the scrows that hold the cooling head on how can i get it out.

I am not sure oif this will work but Sears has a bit called" Screw out" See if they have one that will help you out.

would maybe some round stock and some jb weld work i wonder.....coating the end of the round stock with jb weld put it in the screw and leting it set up? then useing vice grips to turn the round stock...just a thought

Are you taken the head off to replace it with a new one?? If so
break out the hack saw and cut it off just enouf to get to the screw with a pair of vice grips...

Thats a damn good idea! Just be careful that you do not let the JB weld drip underneath the screw or you will be doing what Zandor said.

THe jb weld doesn't hold well enough.

Your best bet would be to get a drill bit that is a little bit larger than the head of the bolt. Drill gently until the head of the bolt is gone. Then, with the remaining screws out, you should be able to pull the head off and get at the stump that's left from the one you drilled with visegrips.

Just make sure to stop drilling as soon as the head comes off. It should leave you about 2-3mm of a stump to work with.

Or the EZ-out that someone else mentioned.

From a auto parts store I purchased a drill set with a reversed worm (drills in reverse) and most of the time when I use them the screw comes out before it even drills all the way through the screw head. Saved my a$$ plenty of times on 1/8 and 1/1 scale vehicles. I use to use them to remove broken water pump bolt's on Ford small blocks (common problem). The reversed drill set I have goes from 3/32 to 3/8.
