Convince mom to let me get a snake

i buy a bunch at a time, and keep them in a seperate bowl until feeding time. i usually have about a 60% survival rate with them. but they are so cheap it doesn't matter. spending money to setup a tank that they will die just as fast in would be a waste. just a simple bowl, change the water in it every couple days, and hope they last. oh and the guppies are the inch long ones, our snake could eat them about 3/4" long from the time he was a baby. hopefully he will grow enough this year to move up to the next size feeder fish.

Something like a corn snake might be a better choice. They are a hardier snake, and you can feed them once a week. Just buy a mouse and drop it in, done. You can also get frozen mice, just warm them in warm water and a corn should take it with no problems, although live is still better. Garter snakes and ribbon snakes to me are a pita to have to constantly mess with feeder fish. Just my :2cents: though.

well i know your excited now but once you have it for a couple months you will get tired of feeding it and not be interested any more thats what my brother did he got a water dragon and took care of it for about a month or 2 then he didnt do the right things to care for it and it got mouth rot and i ended up taking care of it and all so, i think I'm gonna take it and give it to a pet shop soon cuz I'm tired of caring for it, I'm just doing it cuz i dont want it to die.

Well I walked into petco, and guess what I see. A ribbon snake for adoption. So I wound up getting a Ribbon snake,Water bowl, hiding log, and tank for free. Then I bought a tree,Bedding, fish bowl and fish for 50 bux. here are some pics

dude, i tried to tell you, get repti-carpet. you can't feed him in there, when he eats the fish that bedding will get all over the fish and get eaten too. it will make your snake sick or worse kill it, wood chips are the worst for them. also you need a small heating pad under the opposite side of the tank from the water bowl, and simulated daylighting. get yourself a thermometer and hygrometer keep the temps and humidity levels i told you to, you may need to mist the tank once or more per day depending on where you have it, and the time of year, winter is very dry. otherwise your cover in the tank is nice and you got a good size snake. it will easily eat 12 feeders a week. just get that bedding out of there asap!

I bought reptile carpet and am installing it. I got a hygrometer, and thermometer, and I'm getting a heating pad and light. They didnt have a heating pad when i was there. He really likes the tree. Hes in there a lot. And he's really tame. I was just holding him.

good deal. he may like a larger water dish too. ribbon snakes usually live near creeks and ponds and spend a lot of time swimming.
