Hey guys, I need some help convincing my mom to let me get a snake. I told her i will pay for everything. I want a Ball python or a corn snake. :argue:

Come on. Get another rc to keep you busy and away from snake! :D

ya have any small kids in your house? Any babies or anything cuz if ya do, I would HIGHLY suggest NOT getting one. They are more suseptable to catching diseases reptiles carry. I had a Iguana that I had to get rid of because my sister had a kid (They didnt live here, but just visiting) Plus its really spendy to get into. Heat rocks, lights, the animal itself, and plsu feeding it all the time. But there cool. But as far as convincing a parent that doesn't want it in "Their house", good luck..lol

Nope, Its me(13),my sister(11),a dog(old),and my parents. My dad wants one. He used to catch snakes and sell them to the petshop. Its my mom.

Yeah, they are as expensive as maintaining a nitro!!! C'mon... just go buy another rc if you are having cash burn a hole in your pocket!

I had iguanas and they weren't too bad to take care of, then I got two Savannah Monitors. What a major pain in the ass! Going to buy pinkies all the time got to be a major ordeal. The drinking games were fun though on feeding days, though you are not old enough to have that fun. Another thought to ponder is, what do you do when you are out of town, like a family vacation, can you get someone to take care of it?

I love snakes. I have had many over the years, with my biggest being a 13 foot female burmese python. I have had pueblan milk snakes, california king snakes, ball pythons, burmese pythons, red tail boas, columbian boas, red rats, yellow rats, and several others I can't even think of at the moment. They do not pose any where near the health issue threat that iguanas and turtles do. My 4 1/2 year old has a red rat (corn) snake at the moment. When he gets a little bigger I will get him a boa or ball python. If you do it do it right though, make sure you have the propper enclosure, heat source, food, and bedding. They need a constant clean water supply too.

Yeah, the iguana wasn't to bad to take care of. The worst thing was it grew like grass, and had to keep expanding the cage and also getting crickets all the time blew, but ones it got old enough for fruit and vegtables, it was way cool.

How much does all that cost about for a corn snake or ball python NCNITRO???

my son and i have a ribbon snake. once everything is setup and equipment bought, its not too expensive. figure on about 150ish to get started maybe more if you want a large snake. id recommend the corn snake as a first snake over the python simply because they would be easier to care for, and you dont end up with an animal large enough to kill a pet or worse. I'm actually thinking about getting an albino corn as a second snake.

I've had my share of reptiles growin up, & I would definately recommend lizards over snakes.. I had a few Bearded Dragons & Iguanas ... Like some of you have mentioned, I got real tired of buying crickets.. My next reptile will be a Uromastyx. Basically, a fat, lazy, harmless lizard, that likes to lay in the sun & eat greens... lol Very docile creatures that can be held with no training or worries...

MY MOM SAID I CAN GET A RIBBON SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! I am getting it tommorow. I'll post some pics when I get it.

great! ours is about 14 inches long now, when we got it, it was 6 inches long and 3 weeks old. my buddies had babies. they are very easy to care for. just clean the cage often, fresh water all the time. 75-85* temps, 65-75% humidity. they eat small feeder fish like rosy reds or guppies. I've been through every type of substrate you can think of and found that reptile approved carpet is best, its clean for them to eat from, easy to clean, and he doesn't burrow underneigth it. ill try to take a pic of out cage when i get home to give you ideas on what you will need. we use a small heating pad under the dry side of the tank, a very large water dish because they like to swim, a small heat lamp, and regular full spectrum light bulbs.

also dont forget a hide for the snake as well. if they dont have a place to hide they will go nuts and start burrowing.

Dont kill it...
lol. I wont kill it.

CorradoPsi would I be able to keep a little tank of guppies so I dont have to go buy them a lot?

he is talking about Feeder guppies. which are sold at about 20 for a dollar and about 1-1 to 1-1/2 cm's long. not recomended to be kept in an aquairum because they have very low life expectancy. you can also do what i did when i wanted to feed my betas baby guppies all the time and but two guppies at your Local Fish Shop and let them breed its a bit more complicated than just paying the dolar every time you want to feed them.
