Thought I would throw this out there. Anyone can participate. You win nothing! Its all about interpreting a paintjob "idea" seen on the internet or magazine, and doing you own unique "interpretation" to that idea. As I speculated in Ratzo's thread, there could be 10 different results from 10 different painters using the same "idea". Its how you see it in your mind, or thinking, "what if I did this, or added that". The variations from painter to painter would be interesting. So, WHOS IN?

Rules........
* Two weeks to finish, so no hurry
* Can use different colors or change the design, as long as the original "inspires" you.
* Can be on any vehicle body, not limited to touring car

Heres your photo "inspiration" (Can also be seen in the August CarAction pg 142-143. Can see the hood just slightly better there)....................

I'm doing one myself, but with a hurricane bearing down on my ass, I may be without power for a few days. Good luck, have fun, and post progress!

Be safe, I feel for ya, after going through three myself last year, and narrowly avoiding this one. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. Take care and be safe!

As far as the challenge, I will sit this one out, that paintjob only inspires me to take a dump! LOL. But good luck to all who participate. I am real curious to see what you guys come up with.

Thanks, we might as well take this one. (hurricane). I'd like it to go somewhere else, but I wouldn't wish that on anybody. (well, ok to be honest, maybe my former supervisor, heh). We had Ivan, and I know you had your share last year too.

LOL, not the inspiration I was looking for.

Silent you know the Hemi body they did for the race revo in that mag? I think its that one.
I'm painting that or at least trying to with a couple extras as soon as the lid comes. I dont know whay i just love that lid.

I too hate to wish it on anyone else either, but I am sure glad it only grazed us. We have still had some pretty good gusts, and a lot of rain, but I will take that any day over what you guys are gonna get.

I think this is a great idea.. except I'm not inspired by that paintjob whatsoever. I was thinking it would be interesting if we used a non r/c photo as inspiration.

Pierow, that IS a nice paintjob on that 'Cuda. Layered flames all overlapping and stuff. You'd have to use two different colored sharpies to lay it out!

NCNitro, We lost just a couple big trees with Ivan. Didn't fall on the house or cars, so we were very luck. Several more are "leaners". And these are BIG trees. Wouldn't surprise me if they fall this time. (They're gonna fall away from the house, but will take out the fence and phone lines.) I'm kinda hoping they do. We want to put a sunroom addition on right where they're at! <G>. I know, be careful what you wish for.

Lessen, I do Ceramic Pottery too, and we often are inspired by shapes and textures found in nature. But I don't think I've ever been inspired for a paint job outside of other rc paint jobs. You mean other 1:1 cars, bikes, or something non-automotive? Interesting.

This sounds like a cool idea! All would have to "agree" on a body.
I feel for you guys down south. My father-in-law was a firefighter in Pampano Beach, and some of the stories he has! Kicking people off the beack having hurricane partys and such. Idiots. And had to watch for gators when the canals rose from rain....

8:10 Sunday....Jim Cantori on the weather channel is standing in Gulf Breeze 20 minutes from where I live. And that Cat4 has taken a turn right for us. Gad! I can deal with downed trees, I just hope the roof stays on. We were 1 out of 3 that didn't have a blue roof from Ivan. (WHY DIDN'T I BUY THAT CHAIN SAW! <g>)

...... and I'm gonna be pissed if we lose power before the conclusion of the Nascar Race. haha

yeah. just anything really. Prolly should be something that is a bit artistic though, but necessarily.

I'm gonna miss the whole thing. Got a big baby shower goin on today here. I'll be keeping tabs though :) Mcmurray didn't qualify very well but that didn't stop him from finishing 2nd last week.

Hi everyone! 4 days of no-power camping with battery fans, a cooler, and a coleman.... in July! We only lost a couple of trees, so again, I was very, very lucky. The house structure and roof is fine (lost a couple more shingle halves too - not leaking). Probably only half as bad as Ivan, as it took us half the time to get power back. Its good to be a/c'ed and on-line again with my friends. :thankyou:

> (from the back of the room): Hey jerk, stay on topic! <

um, yes! Will put up some progress pics this weekend, in between chainsaw bouts. No takers on the challenge? Guess I was the only one that caught a twister off that image.

I'm totally down with this idea. I have a truck body for my T-Maxx that needs painting but I need something that inspires me a bit more. maybe I'll browse the net and see what I can come up with...

Lessen,

Does this pic hold any inspiration for you? :stick: j/k. It inspired me to get out there with a chain saw and cut if off my neighbors house......
downtree.jpg

the top of the tree in the forground is laying across the fence. broke in half about 12 feet up.

I'm glad you guy's dodged another storm safely!

Now. While were on storms, why not use that as the body theme.

Something like lightning, funnel clouds, etc.
Just a thought.
Shoot it down if you want. You won't hurt my feelings.

An infared satellite image paint job, with the eye and swirl of the hurricane on the roof down to the bottom of the car with some lightning effects... Sounds cool...

I like it. I thought for 15 mins how I would do it. Now, there's a paint challenge.

I told my wife about your idea with the swirling wind, hurricane and lightning. She thought for a second and said, "theres no lightning in a hurricane". I racked my two brain cells and replied, "YES THERE IS!!!". And so the argument pursued.

Maybe someone (NCNitro?) can help me out. I could have sworn I remember lightning as well as sideways heavy rain. ????
