so now I've lost two engines due to con rods braking. one was a trx3.3 the other was an a e pro 28. i know the 3.3 is known for it but never heard of it on the 28. anyone have any ideas on what I'm doin wrong.

I know detonation can cause it, I think a hydrolock situation may cause the rod to break also. An other member suggested to loosen the slipper clutch to me the other day when I asked the question. which would make since any type of shock at high rpm could cause it to happen. I have split two rods in less than a year in my 3.3 now I have a Davis Diesel rod coming for a replacement.

well, my sons split on his 3.3 maxx but it had atleast 13 gallons ran through it if not more. went through the piston and slapped the head. all in all one tuff 3.3 maxx !!

i keep a pretty close eye on my temps right at 260 on the ae 28. no i just have to figure out if i should trade in the engine for 140 or rebuild for 80
