I'm using a Viewsonic Professional Series PS775 on the computer in my workshop. In the last 2-3 days its like looking at a bowl of jello. The picture is not stable and wiggles from side to side. It makes me nervous to look at it.

I installed new wiring in my shop about 2 weeks ago and its on a dedicated 15 amp circuit.

Here are some things I have tried.

Adjust the refresh rate.
Plug into my UPS
Reload the video card driver.
Degauss.

What else could be causing this?
I'm stumped. The monitor isn't more then a year old and the picture quality is still great.

make sure you have no other devices close to the monitor. Drill charger, cell phone charger, even a cell phone itself will make the picture wiggle.

Pencil sharpeners screw with all the screens at my school if there to close

Hell Eddy, if memory serves me right ViewSonic has a 3 warranty don't they? You got another monitor you can try in that same place?

If you have another monitor handy, try a swap-out. Chances are, the vertical/horizontal/both hold is going out.

If the picture ALWAYS has that fishbowl look (like it doesn't come and go away) try temporaily relocating the machine to a different part of the house to see if the problem persists. It could be a very bad source of EMI where the Monitor is located. If it does come and go then there is something screwed up in the monitor and you should look into getting it fixed/replaced under warranty. Or, Upgrade to an LCD, they are not subject to EMI and Tigerdirect.com and newegg.com have some nice deals these days.

Thanks for the tips guys.
It seems as if there is something close to the monitor thats causing an electronic disturbance. When I pull it out a foot or so from where it is all is well. I tried to move everything else but it doesn't go away. The only thing I can think is that its to close to the new electrical conduits. Weird because it just started doing it the other day and the new lines have been in for weeks.

O-well time to re-arrange the shop.... Again....

i know when i used to turn my microwave on my monitor would do just about the same thing looked like a bad trip :hypno: happening on my monitor :)

As hillbilly as this sounds, maybe put a layer of tin foil between the monitor and the conduits. That might help create an electrical sheild .

Our flo lighting used to mess with the monitors in our back office. Now the Nextel phones or Blackberry's mess with the speakers on the computer!
