Okay, I've looked in the GS Storm Thread and couldnt see anythign that helped me and this can be helped by other non Gs member so thats why I didnt post in that thread.

Okay I killed every teeth in my Storm's 13t bell housing. I went to the LHS today and picked up a Savage 13t bell housing. Okay, it's a little bit shorter but my engine can be moved up on the motor mounts. It's a tiny bit smaller on circumfrance in the area where it fits over the clutches. The teeth put together seem to match perfect. We played around with meshing the two together off the buggy and seemed to do okay.

My question is, Do I need to just take it back to the LHS and order a GS made BH or am I just paranoid of looseing my 13 dollars(ballin on a budget) and it will work no problem.

Thanx in advance.

If your LHS carries Ofna stuff, then see if you could swap it for one of them. My LHS sells them for $15 and it comes with bearings. Aside from that, it will work and the pitch is the same. Just the inner circumference is a tad smaller and the overall lenght is shorter, like you said.

So my SAVAGE clutch bell WILL work?

He's only a few months old at the LHS and hasnt started carrying anything other then Traxxis,HPI, and XTM. He just sold his 1st stormt he other day. The storm driver is new and I'm hard on my car. He needs to stock up on GS. :flaming:

Do not run an HPI Savage clutch bell on a buggy. Period. I ran an HPI 18t on my Picco 26 installed in my old Lightning, and it lasted 3 tanks before it was toast.

I think the HPI bells are hardened just enough so that they won't wear when meshed with the plastic spur on the Svage. Mesh it with a hardened spur on a buggy and that's what's gonna happen.

Okay , I guess the back flips will be postponed untill I get another one. Anyone got a random 13t buggy clutch bell laying around?

Wow!! Sorry WL. I take it all back. I just learned something new. I knew the pitch was correct, but did not know these bells suck so bad.

I have if you need.. It's used, but in great condition. I could get it to you by Wed. if you can hang that long.

Yeah, and I had the mesh perfect. The pitch is the same, but the degree of hardening is definately different. I ran an Ofna on the K3 for a while, and the Kyosho 13t is on it now. Both are shiney on the teeth, but no other wear.

I guess a higher grade of steel, and more tempering would make the HPI bell wear longer, but would also make it more expensive. That's why they're like $5 cheaper than a buggy bell. It's called designed application. that's also why the RRP steel spur for the savage comes with a bell (the steel spur would eat the stock bell up).
