i've just started my truck for the first time and the manual says that the wheels should not be engaging. the car doesn't move when it's on the ground, but the move when the car is off the ground.

is this normal for a new clutch during break in, or can i adjust it to wear it doesn't engage like i think it's suppose to?

and i pulled the damn starter handles off the pull-start rope.

thanks

built it 4.6. 2mm-1/4"inch break in settings. when i try to adjust to the 2mm it dies. when it's at 1/4" inch its engaging. is that normal.

and whats the best to hook the pull-start cord up so it doesn't come of the pull?

You need to clarify that. The difference between 2 mm and 1/4 inch is almost idle to wide open.
Also......4.6 or .46?
There's a possibility that you did not connect the clutch springs properly. I broke in a .46 Truckzilla conversion for someone who made that mistake. If the springs are not holding the clutch shoes IN, they will engage all the time.

its the new savage 4.6. i did the clutch shoes exactly like it said to do.

"The difference between 2 mm and 1/4 inch is almost idle to wide open."
2mm-1/4"inch from closed

Once you get a few tanks through the engine, it should allow you to drop the idle to a more respectable level. It may be that the LSN (low speed needle) is so rich that it's flooding itself out when you try to back down the idle.

After the first few tanks are through the engine, you can lean the LSN up a bit then you should be able to get it to idle low enough not to engage the clutch.

does it do me any good. ------ pull start cord came off the pull (the knot came loose), and i fixed it. now the whole ---- cord came out the motor. what can i do about this is is it screwd?

$600+ and it's sitting the corner BROKEN with my junky ass broken junky ass t-maxx

I understand your frustration, I went through something similar on my first nitro. But please try to keep the swearing down to a minimum as this site does have younger members .

I posted on the thread you posted concerning this matter.

Please review it

Well at least your calm... make sure to not be angry when you work on the pull start as they can tend to be a bit of a PITA, but are definitly fixable.

Just take your time with it.

Dam that sucks I just got done with the first 2 tanks on my 4.6 with no problems

I did have to adjust the idle a little to keep the clutch from turning NO big thing.
I did how ever take every thing apart on the mill and sealed the back plate and carb and checked out the P/S and all..

Dude I totaly understand how you feel I have ran my maxx a total of 3 times the first time it would barley run 2nd time got help from here got it running right and it takes off full speed because my batteries where low and hit a pole at top speed and breaks off the entire front suspension on one side. 3rd run after fixing front end the mesh was off between the bell and the spur gear and it destroys my spur gear! So far I've ran the thing for about 10 minutes and I've had it for almost 6 months!!! Dont give up if your really intrested in it I'm planning on fixing mine and hope it hold together this time lol. Just take your time and follow instuctions from the members here and you will get it going If it wasn't for the people here I would never got it even got it to run lol. I wish you luck bro :)

Time for rotostart!

My 2 cents. The .46 should have huge compression, and i suspect lots of folks will be "over yankin" the pull starts. I did this with my first nitro. Little patience and some work with the spring in the pull start should get it working again, however if you just want to get it running quick and have a few $ 20-30 at the lhs should get you a new pull start back plate.

Be aware of how far you pull the cord. 8-12 inches should be enough.

Cheers and best of luck getting it running.

"The .46 should have huge compression" jesus christ you aint kidding. its like starting a kick ass weed wacker or something. i had to sit down and step on th rear bumper to pull the cord and get it cranked. i didnt step on the bumper when i first cranked it just holding the roll bar and cut huge gash in both index and middle fingers on left hand. the 2 fingers i used to pull the start cord have blisters about an inch long. i loosen the glo to try and ease some of the compression.

i fixed the pull start spring it broke and i took the broken piece off and trashed it. i bent a new section of it and viola. fixed. we'll see tomorrow if it holds up. i think i'll have to get roto on this mutha. this thing has broke me to were the lining and lint is gone in my pockets. how much does a new pull start cost? wow $20-30 for just the backing plate?
