Lol! Ramble away! Its your thread!
The liability does make sense.
No one likes getting hurt! I think its even worse when it happens at a leisure time activity. This should be about fun!
I agree with you there, I also found a new (Pulled from a new RTR XO-1) combo for $260 on eBay but it'll be awhile until the car would be ready for electronics since the car is currently in pieces but hopefully next month i can buy the parts i need to rebuild it to where it's a rolling chassis. Then i can decide what to do for the electronics the only thing about the stock combo is it would also need a new Traxxas TQI TX, RX and BT module but i've seen those go for 60 - 100 also on eBay or just go for a custom aftermarket combo like an MMX8s sensored combo with my choice of whatever aftermarket TX\RX i want.

Jenny's rc always has screaming deals on stock electronics. Maybe you can find parts or tge whole set up there???
I know there are other kit breakers out there too. Maybe you'll find just what you want, new AND cheap!

I heard of Jenny's before and i just looked and she had both the ESC and motor separately.

I have purchased motors and a Spektrum ESC, multiple parts and have been pleased with each one! They are very helpful if you have questions about products.
I got my email answered in under an hour AND it was a human AND not a nitwit!!!
I think Jenny's is actually run by a guy named Ted but don't quote me on that one.
Great experience there though!!!👍👍👍
I don't know if they offer warrantys though. That might be something to consider.
I haven't needed one either though!

Oh really? Either way it sounds like they are a great seller.

I think because they literally handle each product they sell, it gives them a much better knowledge of the products.
They know what they sell and that makes them good at it.
Good customer service and they make me happy.

I also found that Jenny's eBay had a Traxxas Link Bluetooth module for $24 and i found a TQI radio from a new XO-1 model for $60 from some chop shop on eBay. I could also get a new 4 channel TQI TX\RX with the Bluetooth module preinstalled straight from Traxxas for $150 i would want to get the phone mount for $15. There were some other parts i also found on Jenny's i would want for my car.

Ebay is fine but you get charged fees etc.
Jennysrc.com is direct and prob a bit cheaper?

It looks like you found a bunch of stuff you listed! Cool!
I'll have to their check out their official site but at this point i'm greatly considering just getting a new RTR XO-1 since i just did a cost estimate to rebuild my current car back to mostly stock spec and it's a little over $900 and the trouble necessary to get all the telemetry sensors connected and wire managed. The new car would a little less than $80 vs rebuilding my current one so i might just buy myself a new personal XO-1 and fix my old then sell it.

Thats a lot of $ for sure!
A lot to figure out!
Good luck @ Jennys!
I just checked their direct site and they have some of things i would need but for cheaper than eBay but i'm not sure about shipping. So i would have to do a re-estimate with their prices combined with everything else i would need.

I did a re-estimate with Jenny sourced parts, other parts i found from other RC chop shops on eBay and Traxxas themselves. And it came out to $650 so far.

So that's something to think about! Its crazy how much shipping plays into my purchases now! It has become a limiting factor all the way to a deal breaker sometimes.
Even with the discounted pricing, $650 is a lot of money to "play" with.
Is everything you are picking out "stock" or are you getting upgrades with V2 parts at Jenny's?

Most of the parts were stock but i had a few other things from other sellers on eBay that also included tax. But yeah just to get my current car put back to stock i might as well just spend the extra money and just get an all brand new car that's fully assembled and not having to plug in and cable manage all the telemetry sensors. If i did get a new RTR all i would change would just be the steering servo, install body pin retainers and get the phone mount for the stock radio and maybe someday upgrade the whole setup to aftermarket stuff. I just feel like i would be perfectly fine with a mostly stock new XO-1 with a servo upgrade since the stock 2075's aren't known to be a very good servo and minor little extra.

Unless you are building for competition, theres no need to rush upgrades anyways.
Its just something to cosider and weigh, new vs build custom I mean.
You're doing a great job on the math homework right now!
If you feel good about the stock car meeting your needs, maybe an rtr is the way to go.

Thanks for understanding my thing there's only a few things i don't like about the new car but i can always upgrade the new one as needed. As for my old one i had a few ideas to repurpose it or repair it then sell it or use it for parts.

I would make a list of needed and "wishlist"parts for each car.
Look for sales and deas to build both back up if you have the option to keep both.
It might be fun to try a mod on one car and compare to the other. You could "test" on upgrades to see what works for you and why. With 2 cars you'd have twice as many results to compare and like or dislike!
It sounds fun to me actually! 🤣👍🏻

I had an idea to make a budget XO-1 out of my old XO-1 then buy myself a new personal XO-1 but i have other cars i want to get someday as well as a new transmitter for all my current and future cars. I want a Spektrum iXSR someday they seem pretty good and have a super intuitive interface i was always interested in radios like the 7PXR and DX6R in the past. As you may know i bought an RC8X but it turned out to be not a great radio when it came to range and signal quality it also 50\50 reliability but one great thing about it was how easy it was to use. go check out DavidB1126's post about them.

We touched on that radio briefly before.
I m ALL about the new technology and how it can be applied to older things. I also enjoy seeing how we progress in this hobby.
Brushless and lipo were just a fantasy when I was young!
The Spektrum/Google merger is where it goes wrong for me.
Google is a bad company. They don't respect their customers or their privacy.
I simply won't allow that in my R/C world.
The noble NB4 from Flysky is a budget friendly race quality radio that pretty much EVERYONE on RCTALK recommends.
The Radiomaster MT12 is ULTRA flexible and totally programmable.
Up to 32 channels I think?!
Its git a steep learning curve but its WAY cheaper than other radios and infinitely more capable.
I'm watching a thread now to see if its something I want for myself.
My computer is old and about to become obsolete with no more updates.
I need to know that i can program this thing without a constant internet link to make it work.
If no internet/computer interfacing required then I'm buying one!!!

I think @DavidB1126 would also recommend a Noble NB4 but I'm sure he will answer for himself now that I tagged him! 😆

I understand where you're coming from, But for me i've had and used android phones\tablets, google accounts and Google chrome for over a decade and i've never had any problems with them ever. And i mainly want the IXSR for the easy to use interface, AVC and i just want a high end radio i also want to prevent buying another cheap Chinese junk radio like my RC8X. Sorry to hear about your experience about google. I hope you understand but it's my money you shouldn't judge people for what for what they want to buy with their own my money. But i digress.

Have the nb4 myself and I love it. Easier to use than the junkie radiolink imo.

NB4 is best for the money. 30 or 40 bucks less than the radiounlink I'm pretty sure.

Radiomaster mt12 is also nice. Mt12 will have twice or more longer range than the nb4 and any other radio out there due to ELRS. Not to mention as I already mentioned this before, the mt12 can do various protocol receivers and it can hook up to futaba, radiolink and spektrum receivers you already have.

Another pro or the nb4 is their high quality receivers are 20 bucks off of AliExpress. Vs those spektrums are what 50 to 70 a pop?

But you do you. 🙂

If your wanting more questions on the radiomaster, @WickedFog can help. He just got it and he loves it.
