My #1 is one of the most underrated female artists of rock and roll, Jonette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, artist, poet, and she totally kicks ass, from folk tunes to heavy metal. Then,
Carole King (She's been writing music since the 50's for many artists long before she started her own singing career in the 60's)

Linda Ronstadt
Pat Benatar - saw an accoustic version of "We Belong" once with just her and her husband on guitar, the woman is f***in' gifted
The Wilsons still rock (Heart)
Avril Lavigne - This upstart has got REAL potential
Letters to Cleo's Kay Hanley, who did the music for the Josie and the Pussycat's movie and 10 Things I Hate Abut You, among many others, I've got 4 of their albums
Shannon Curfman - When I first heard of S.C. she was 16 and had already cut an album, she is far ahead of her years and has a Sheryl Crow kind of style but with very deep and rich blues and southern boogie background, look her up
