Is it ready to charge as soon as it comes out of the box or is there something else that it needs?. . .power supply? anything?

You would need a power supply or a 12V battery.

That is a nice charger... the next step up from my Duratrax ICE. By the way my 6 yo daughter likes your new signature block. She loves My Little Ponies too!;)

The Checkpoint is pretty much a re-badged ICE Joey ;-)

That depends on where you buy it from. Probably anywhere from $40 - $80.

Personally I would get at least a 20amp supply, but you can get away with a 10amp.

A power supply from a desktop computer will work as well.
