Well I've got a deal in the works to get a scaler project from a friend of mine. I know there's still a lot of work to be done on this one, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I'm going to be getting a REALLY good deal on it. I'm going to be changing the wheels, because I've really been wanting to get a set of "true scale" wheels and a similar set that Creatacrawler makes, so I think this project is perfect for those. I really like the tires though, and the hubs are amazing. The deal is in the works, but it's just a possiblity. If I don't do the trade for this scaler, I will probably be starting on the build of a clod body trailfinder kit, possibly a Yota body. I REALLY like the Yota bodies on the scalers, but as you know I'm a huge fan of classic GM iron as well. We'll just have to wait and see, I may do a clod body trailfinder and build a tube chassis for the Yota cab, and make it a truggy.

wow man, another killer project, that looks really fun. yeah it definatly needs new rims.

the hubs are amazing though, they sure don't look as good when they're not on custom scale wheels like NC's are. But Joe at EEM has his favorites, and he only makes wheels for the people he likes I guess lol.

nice rig there charlie, i agree though, needs new tires. Was that actual leaf springs i seen there on the rear?

I may leaf this one in the rear and build a panhard bar, or I may leave it 4 linked. If it will get driven, it will stay 4 link in the rear. If I make it a shelf queen, it will be leafed in the rear wil scale shocks.

I'm going to have this one and the RC4WD Trailfinder kit, and the trailfinder will probably be shelf queen and this will probably get driven. By driven, I mean once a month on the carpet and maybe in the grass twice a year. I'll have an old beater to take out on the rocks.

man that thing looks sweet. those wheel gotta go.

where can you buy a premade chassis like that?

or do you have to make them yourself?

hey charlie can you send me some info on where to find scaler parts like the chassis leaf springs etc etc.. please

Sure man I'll send you a PM. With the chassis, it can go either way. This was a custom chassis by a guy that machines them for people who want to buy them, and you can buy them if you want. About half the people buy them, and half the people build them. I build chassis and frames and suspension for 1:1 cars and truck, so it's only logical that I'm wanting to start building scaler frames. Once I start building them, if there is some demand, I may become a vendor and sell them, but it will be a low turn out since I will be doing them by hand and not producing them robotically or anything. I'm not putting anyones business out in the open, but one of our members is secretly working on a SICK custom chassis for a sweet scaler, you'll have to wait to see who it is though, unless they decide to release the information.

Very nice Charlie! Those toyrannasaur hubs are amazing, Chris does some incredible work. I wish he would make another run of them, I regret only buying one set.

I wish he would make some more as well, I would buy at least 5 sets for future projects. I don't want to step on anyones toes or anything like that, but my uncle has a really nice machine shop and could probably run some of them for me and my friends if I wanted him too.

dude what is that?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking? Are you asking me about the truck? It's a custom 1.9 scaler, leaf springs in the front, four link in the rear. It's nothing close to NC's Jeep Tuber that he's building, but it is the beginning of a good project, and I will be building some custom scalers in the coming months, just gotta get these three custom crawler builds that I'm working on out of the way. I haven't been building the last few weekends because I've been involved in my other hobby, trail riding on my grizzly 660, in the little spare time that I have.

It's a one off custom. TLT-Axles, but everything else is custom. It was actually built by a friend of mine and a moderator of one of the other crawler forums, his name is Chip Cross. We haven't decided if we're goign to be doing a trade or a cash deal, so this is just something that I'm considering getting, nothing set in stone.

ur gonna run leaf springs? they make them that small? man I've been checking out some scaler stuff on another sight and its crazy how many real looking stuff they make.

Yeah they make them that small. If you think the parts they sale are realistic, you should see the parts that people make. NCNitro is one example of the talent that can build scale parts, and there's plenty more people out there that are building scaler parts as well. The detail is just unbelievable. Slowngreen, if you want to see a leaf spring setup, look at the pics again. Chip has leaf springs on the front and a 4 link in the rear, so just look at the front.
