With racing VRC I got tired of using too many AA batteries so I decided to go rechargable in my transmitter. I bought a Dynamite "upgrade kit" and after using it for the last week, I don't like it at all. The batteries were just 700mAh NiCd so I can't go 2 hrs without a recharge.
So now I have some Duracell 2650mah NiMH batteries and I was wondering if I can use the same charger and charge them in the transmitter? Also how long do I charge or how do I know when they are fully charged?
On the battery it says standard charge:270mA for 16 hrs, the charger for the tx says 300mA. The instructions from Dynamite were very vague, just said charge 1 to 2 hours dpending on how dead they were.

Thanks for any help

I use the Energizer 2500mah AA's in my Tx. I don't use the Energizer charger though. I just charge them in the Tx cradle @ .5A on my Duratrax charger. I get approx. 4.5 hours of Tx time on them.

I don't have the Duracell charger either and I don't have a good charger at all. I have a Mega1 and Mega Peak, neither is rated for 8 cells.

My biggest question is how do I know when they are fully charged using the tx charger?

To be honest, I don't even understand how they get the numbers they suggest. My formula for charging is (Mah rating/1000)/charge rate. For instance my IB 5000 charged at 3.5A is (5000/1000)/3.5 = 1.67Hrs = 1 Hr. 40 min.

For you: (2650/1000)/.300 = 8.83 Hrs = 8 Hrs. 50 min.

I charge my Energizer rechargeables using my Duratrax charger 2500mah batteries @ .5 Amp (500mah)

(2500/1000)/.5 = 5 Hrs.

using this method I get the same Tx time as if I charge the same batteries on the Energizer charger, which as yours gives an insanely long charge time. My .5A charge is not too much faster than your 300mah charge.

I just use the charger that came with my controler to charge rechargable pack the came with the radio, but I also got tired of short run times and made my own trasmitter pack out of Duracell 2650mah batteries, then I just check the voltage on the transmitter once in a while to see where it is at, it usually peaks out around 12 volts when fully charged, but that takes a long time, because it is such a slow plug into the wall type charger.
