I got some new NiMH AA batts, put 8 of them in a radio pack and set the Super Brain 977 to 8 cells, with a charge rate of 1.30A, or about half the capacity, since they are 2600s and this is their first charge.
The charge took just over an hour, but the pack reached 130 degrees. I'm wondering if that sounds normal.

If you don't mind me asking, are these T-energy (blue) cells? If so, they like to charge hot. I charge mine in the supplied charger and they always come out around 135, hot enough to actually burn if you hold em long enough. They always work fine after charging. I get around 4 hours out of em in my TX.

If I charge the whole pack of 8 in the battery tray from my TX they come out around the same temp, too. My charger is a Prophet Plus peak charger (4-8 cells).
