:\:\ if you got a used buggy how do you know if it has center diff or if it is spooled and can a center diff be 2 speed .?.i don't know the difference. never had buggys but now i have 2 that i need to get running.

Buggies are single speed, usually with a center diff. No transmission, just a diff riding on 2 bearings and being driven by the clutch bell.

The easiest way to tell is to hold both of the front or back wheels and try to spin the other set of wheels.

You can also look for 2 disc brakes.

OK what happens when you hold the 2 wheels and turn the other 2.

and yes the mugen and kyosho both have 2 disc brakes. so. what is the reason for that:\

They both have a center diff then. It's the same concept as any other diff. In a nut shell it means you can use oil to tune how much power gets to the front or rear tires. It makes for better handling out of corners etc.

As far as I'm aware every 1:8 buggy has a center differential. Buggies has two brake discs for controlling brake balance. You'll notice that one disc is on either side (the working ends that is) of the diff. One disc for front braking and one for rear wheel braking

Wat is spooled?

spool is a term used to describe a locked transaxle. That means where power from a main driveshaft is distributed to outdrives (to the wheels), thre is no "diff" action. That is to say the wheels turn equally and are not able to rotate at different speeds (the purpose of a differential).

do u put oil in the diffs or grease. i do not mean just the center i mean all 3 front , center , rear?

Thanks. Brian

I'd assume buggies come with all sealed diffs, so yes. Make sure the front and rear diffs have some type of seal when you take them apart.
