So about 10 years or so ago I bought a CellMeter 7 (Its the black one in the pics and even though it doesn't say cellmeter 7 on it thats what it was sold as back then). I needed a second checker for the garage so I bought the 8 because the 7 has served me well over the last decade. I was pleasantly surprised to see some upgrades. The 7 is just a straight cell checker with no back light. The 8 does everything the 7 does plus its backlit and it also has a built in servo tester and a built in cell balancer. The 7 is actually still being sold and it hasnt changed one bit for $10 on Amazon but the 8 is only $3 more so might as well go for the 8. I didnt realize the 8 had the extra features when I ordered it so I thought Id share my findings :)

Very cool. How does the servo tester work? Going to have to grab one of these.

Plug a servo into the side, plug a battery in to the other side and the wheel allows you to turn the servo
I like it 👍👍 very cool going have to order one when done mowing the lawn. Even better it's blue 💙 NICE🤣👍

And how accurate is this meter?. whats its discharge rate? I used 1 many years ago only to find its reading off ,

The CM8 is only off from my Fluke multimeter by less than .01V. My CM7 is off soemwhere between .01 and .02V but still close enough for a cell checker.

I have no idea about the stand alone balancing feature but lets be honest, Do people still use stand alone balancers? I've had an astro blinky the entire time I've been in the hobby and once lipo chargers started doing the balancing for me I've never had call to use it since.

The cell meter 7 will balance as well. Mine does anyways. Just hold down the “type” button for a few seconds. It will beep the the display should start cycling through the individual cells. It does an alright job but could be a bit closer. It will get you within .02 though. I know two hundredths isn’t ideal but for such a cheap unit I’m happy with it! I also double checked it with my multimeter and it is dead nuts on. Well worth the $$

Yeah they both balance. But I would much rather balance my lipos with my venom or hitech chargers. Not my 10$ cell checker.. ibwoukd be careful using it to balance your lipos bud.. The 8 is also a servo checker. Just plug it in and the 8 has a little dial to make sure the servo works before install.. 👍👍

I didn't even know this existed. I may have to scoop one up. I have the spektrum xbc100 which is really handy. I wouldn't have bought it personally but came with a bunch of other parts that I got in a deal. It actually balances the cells better than my venmo charger.

With this being so much cheaper, it seems well worth it.

I would definitely get the cell meter 8. If you do it has the servo checker as well. Just plug in battery one side and servo into the other. And turn dial.. to make sure it's working.. its a cool little tool..

I like the fact they added the servo checker, I have the old version, will most likely upgrade to the model 8 soon.
The servo checker is definitely a game changer. Able to test them before you install
