This last weekend I headed up to Ohio from North Carolina to see some family. While there, my brother and I headed over to Cedar Point. It was the best thrill park i have ever been to in my life. We rode all the coasters except Millennium Force because it was down for the day. My favorite would have to be the Mantis, an interesting ride. Top Thrill was simple incredable, awsome ride.

Any of you guys been recently?

Been some time since I was there but they always try to stay one step ahead of everyone else when it comes to coasters. I want to go but my wife won't ride and my daughter is too young.

And you didn't stop in Cincinnati to say hi? You big jerk!

Ah, kidding! It's been awhile since I've been to Cedar Point, especially since King's Island is literally in my back yard, but it does have a ton of great rides! Dd you hear that Cedar Point's holding company just purchased all of Paramount's parks including King's Island? Should be interesting!

Yeah, I agree! Why Ohio fought Michigan for that armpit is beyond me! If I'd of been around, I'd of paid Michigan to take it!

Now, if you head East a bit, it gets nicer!

Where in NC are you from again??
I can't remember.

I live north of Raleigh. ( I work in Morrisville, getting ready to start a new job in Durham.. but I still live up near Kerr Lake.)

I was there 4-5 years ago. If I remebr Six Flags in Jersey took the record for fastest and highest away from Cedar Point. They have one called Kingda Ka..Here is what the site says about it....

Opening at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2005 Kingda Ka will become the tallest, fastest roller coaster on the planet. This $25-million Intamin "rocket coaster" uses hydraulic motors to launch the trains along a horizontal section of track from zero to 128 mph in an impressive 3.5 seconds. The trains then begins a vertical ascent up a steel tower that peaks at 456 feet or 45 stories. Crossing over the apex the train enters a vertical descent plunging through a 270-degree spiral twist again reaching speeds in excess of 128 mph. One final surprise comes before the brake run, a 129-foot tall bunny hill, that promises to offer plenty of negative G's also known fondly as airtime.

The only thing that beats Top Thrill is in Asia i think, and is only 20 feet taller.

Yes! Paramount Carrowinds(30min from me) got bought by Cedar Fair, hopefully they level that garbage and throw up some decent rides.

I am in Charlotte.

Ill stop by next time monek :)

Yeah, but I'm a wooden coaster fan at heart! I love The Beast! Had a dream job as a teenager and got to run it! Rode the first train every day I worked!

Man, what a rush!

I haven't been to CP for about 30 years...it rocked back then!!!

Gotta love The Beast...I've ridden it many many times over the years....Sucker is a bit rough compared to todays coasters.

I rode the Aerosmith Coaster in Disney last month Awesome...especially since I'm a big Aerosmith fan.

MW...I'm gonna be @ Kings Island Next month!! I'll look for ya;)

Mr T

Yeah, it is rough, but that's part of its charm! Haven't tried Son of Beast yet, but hear it's pretty good as well!

Just got my season pass, T-Maxx, so chances are I'll be out there at some point with the kids! When you get closer to visiting, let me know, maybe we can hook up for a cold one! I probably live three miles from KI.

That would be awesome...but...I'll be on a Greyhound bus with a church group...probably better not partake of any cold ones. We'll probably go back later in the summer as a family...maybe then!!

Oh yeah, loved working at Kings Island! Got to drive The Beast, The Racer, Vortex and work the log flume rides. Worked there six seasons and loved every one of them! Not to mention for a high school kid, the girls weren't bad, either!

I have only been to Cedar Point twice Since 1998 or so,But we use to go to Hershey ever year. Mainly becuase we lived 40 minutes away and becuase my grandmom's work could get discount ticketes and the day we would go we would have free drinks and food all day. They need to update their ride selection, the past few years that we have gone it has been the same old stuff.

Jeff

Kingda Ka, looks exactly like Top Thrill. The launch system, track design, and braking system are the exact same on both rides. Kingda Ka came second though so they pushed the technolagdy(spelled horribly) a little further. Both i bet are insane rides, only ridden one of them.
