Something for all you failsafe guys out there. Can a properly functioning failsafe melt a clutch ? It sure can. If the set screw in the carburetor ball link comes loose and the ball link falls off the end of the throttle shaft (barrel). Sure, the failsafe will engage the brakes but with the throttle shaft out (WOT) you get cause and effect.

WOT + brakes = melted clutch.

Note to self: use loctite

False alarm. After checking things out, it wasn't my clutch that was smoking. Although I'm sure it lost some life during all of this.
It was one of the brake rotors or pads, or both. Either way, all is well and my new RB engine is completely tuned in, just in time for the weekend. Downtime is ok when it's during the work week, but sucks on the weekend.
