I'm thinking about swapping the carb on my .21 mill for one that's easier to tune.

This questions goes out to the experts that have done this. Do the needle settings follow the carb?

Logic tells me that the thread pitch, diameter of the fuel inlet, etc, etc is specific to the carb and hence the needle settings for the carb on engine A would be the same if that carb was transplanted to engine B.

I understand that if I have a perfect tune on engine A and I move the carb to engine B, the perfect tune is gone.

I'm not asking about a perfect tune, I'm asking about those ballpark needle settings you use when you need to reset the carb or when you need to re-tune the engine.

Thanks in advance for your time,
Rob

Just set the needles to the mill the carb came off of. Break-in settings. And then go from there.

And yes, more than likely the perfect tune will be gone. From engine to engine they vary.

And always start rich.

i agree with christian - although the carb will utilize most of the tuning - u will still have an effect on the mill as well. IE: if u implant a perfectly tuned carb onto a new engine that was previously in tune, it will be close, but not as in tune as it was prior.

The carb on this hyper .21 8-port race thing is a little b#$%^. It takes some people 2 tanks to tune it. I'm a novice at tuning anyway so I Was thinking abuot dropping in the carb from the OS .21 (model 20e). I read you can get lucky and find them on ebay from time to time for 30 bones or so.

So in my case, I'd have to find the break in settings for the OS .21 RG or whatever and tune from there. Thats what I figured. danka

i have an os.21 rg - if u need the tuning instructions, PM me and i will scan them for you.
