Does anyone know how to extend the range the car will go from the handset? my thunder tomahawk has a really short range and I would like to extend it if possible!

How short is your "short range"? If the antennas are not broken on either end there's nothing else you can do other than upgrade the radio to a 2.4 system. FlySky for under $50 on Ebay.

As Rolex said, 2.4ghz is the way to go and it will give you more range than you need.

Flysky gt3b if your on a tight budget or a Futaba 4PLS if you want a high quality radio. Both have good ranges both are nice radios for the money.

thanks for the reply's! the car is already on 2.4ghz but I think I'm missing a small piece off the antenna on the car!

Also remember that the antenna on the 2.4 GHz receivers tend to be shorter than the older AM or FM systems, typically 2-3 inches long.

What rig is it in?..sometimes the Antena gets a small chafe and sort of grounds out on a metal receiver box or a metal tube snugger,

Best option would be 2.4GHZ, but if you can't afford it just check the batteries and antenna :)

Radio range can be as much about LOS (line of sight) as type of handset and reciever combo.

Personally, I have noticed a small drop in range due to batteries running low on power / charge.

Best bet is to try a two handed range test with freshly charged batteries, then with partially drained batteries and check the difference.

With you holding the handset, whilst a friend slowly increases the distance between yourself and the rig, you can find the range fairly easily.

then just replace the receiver and it should be back to original range.
Hmm...strange- your latest post about how he stated it was 2.4GHZ isn't showing for me. Anyways- silly me for not reading the other posts, once again. :p too desperate to quickly reply if I see they're online :P

I deleted the post because after I re-read the post it seemed argumentative and I didnt mean for it to come off that way.
that's fine :) I know your not argumentative- and that you didn't mean it in that way :)

it's ok rolex, you just need to take one of your special pills. Everything will seem a lot calmer once it takes effect....:stick::naughty::hehe:

I was referring to the fact that the old humour is still ever present and it is like I never spent any time away from here.

So easy to slot back in to this forum, unlike in another hobby......
