Mate the Nitrage is the kidda I'm afraid, kinda bias opinion as I'm currently runnin 1 but have owned a few Truggies an friends have had a many an they will agree, the Nitrage always seems 2 come out on top extremely rugged, hardy an ridiculously fast, untouchable in the 1:8 range with the 2speed hop up.
That said I dont take anything away frm the LRP, it will be an impressive piece of kit once u iron out your minor issues.

Best advice i can give you, open up the manual and rebuild the truck yourself. Take the time to make everything right. Then you should be able to run her for a couple hours with no problems. Truggy suspension is generally pretty soft, it keeps the wheels on the ground. The tech guy was right, the shocks were not properly filled or built or the wrong oil was used. If you want stiffer springs, I understand. It's all about preference.
The LRP mill is more than enough power, it will take over a gallon before it starts to haul ass. Be patient bud, it makes the hobby more fun.

It gets Worse!!

I'm not sure but i think when the motor fell from the mounts it damaged something... When I start the car it runs a few seconds and then it seems as if something within the pullstart jumps and pulls on the pull start, then the motor cuts out... The guy in the local shop thinks that there is a problem with the one way bearing!! As a rusult I have bought a closed back plate and a starter box, so I can remove the pullstart. I am also told I may get extra power from the motor by doing this!! Problem being at the moment the flywheel sits to high therfore the starter wheel does not fit in to touch the flywheel. Gonna contact LRP and ask if the engine mounts for the team kit are smaller. If this is the case I will order this and my starting problems will hopefully be over!! Also it seems as the steering servo has broken... When i switch the car and the controller on the servo turns all the way to the right and locks in place!! got no clues as to why this is!!!

But most importantly, I need much help with this. When I start the car the throttle is completely in it may move half a millimeter further but no more!! But the car still wants to run off at a pace... If I use the trim to stop it running away the car idles too low and cuts out!! I really dont understand that at!! No throttle and with the breaks just pulling ever so slightly and its still pulling away!!! (my only idea is either that there is a problem with the clutch, that it wont release the axle at low rpm or I need to be tuning srcews and I'm not quite sure what the 3 different screws do, one of which I'm told I shouldnt adjust, and the book isnt too clear for a beginner like me.)
Any help is much appreciated, as you can imagine by now I am extremely angry and frustrated with the whole thing!! £800 and still not had it running longer than 10mins!!

As an extra note I have now secured all the screws and bolts I need with ptfe and thread lock, I dont think it would come apart if I wanted it to now ..lol. and when I said the shocks were bad perhaps I needed to let you know that if you push the car flat to the floor it only came back up less than half the travel of the shocks!! Basically they cannot hold the weight of the car!!

And again thanks in advance for any help!!

I hope you used removable locktite, or you'll have a real hard time getting the screws out. You'll need to use a soldering iron and get them hot. Your engine has a massive air leak I would bet. What happened when the head came off? Was the piston exposed? Maybe you lost a shim? Even if that isn't the case, you still have a huge air leak. And as far as the starter box, I'd take it back and put the money back in my pocket. Your far from worrying about a little more speed.:) Sounds like you got conned out of your hard earned money by the lhs fellow. Most of the time, one way bearings can be cleaned, lubed and reused many times. It's actually a common occurrence, especially during break in. Do a search on sealing and breaking in a nitro engine on here and make things easier on yourself. And ask questions! :)
