I am finishing up my rig and spent alot of cash doing so. Well I no I am getting some bulk heads but not for a few months so my wallet can heal up. I want to know if bulk head braces will cut it for awhile, I wont be driving it much anyway either for a few months. What is ya'lls opion on this? Them I can still use them on my new bulks. Thanks, Wayne:bow:

Um... what's the truck? That's important... if it's a maxx, good bulks are pretty much a necessity due to the poor design of the hinge pin holders.

If it's a savage, LST, aftershock, MGT, TNX, revo... pretty much anything but a maxx, they are pretty good in stock form.

Oh... that's you I've been I'm'ing? Or somebody else?

As for the braces... I didn't find that they helped with durability much at all. My bulks typically broke either where the shock tower bolts on or where the hinge pins went. After replacing them 3 or 4 times (total PITA), I went with aluminum bulks.

I need bulks and A arms, I got my air filter It is tore down untill I get my arms this week thats why I am wondering about a tempary item to make the bulks stronger.

RPM or ProLine are both good choices for A arms. If you plan on doing hard bashing, alloy parts are usually not a good choice for certain items. In the drive train, tranny, diffs, etc. alloy is best. On a bad hit, suspension parts like A arms don't spring back like plastic parts, but in cold weather plastic gets brittle enough to snap on impact. There's always a trade off, and I always leave a few plastic items to absorb the shock to avoid bending alloy parts. Any way you do it, you can make it very strong (usually by figuring out what you break most often) but it can never be totally bullet proof.

Well... there isn't much of a temporary item to help the bulks be stronger... RPM arms are more flexible than stock, so they may put less strain on plastic bulks.

I found that I went through front bulks more often than rears, so maybe just get the fronts now if you can swing it.

Personally, if I were to build a maxx basher again, I'd go with GA's 7075 bulkhead/bulkbraces. The up front costs seems like a lot. But they are second to none. They come as a kit which is cheaper overall than buying the fronts/rears/braces separately. @$105 for front/rear and braces, it really isn't that bad of a price. They are really some quality parts. 7075 t6 for the bulks. I believe they also use heli-coils for the screw threads which hold up much better to repeated screw removal. And they include a nice little cross link brace for the rear turnbuckles to help give them "captured" support. The bulk braces that come in the kit also look really sweet... if your into looks at all.

A buddy of mine bought that set about 4 years ago. We both just sat there in awe looking at the parts on the table for a while... the we installed them and beat the snot out of his truck. He was very hard on his maxx... and they didn't even flinch.

thanks guys yall are awsome. Ralph I have a sweet alloy tranny w/RRP gears and brake,spur/slipper.I just want arms and bulks or braces for now. Do you guys no how I need to adjust the slipper on this or is it 1 quarter back like stock? Thanks

Geez... I don't know. That's the RRP slipper as well. It's more "adjustable" than using the pegs. So you might want to try a full turn and work your way in from there. It has much more contact area on the slipper pads so it probably doesn't need to be as tight.

well, so for now I am doing the plastic "unbreakable" RPM A Arms all around and I ordered RPM Bulk head brace that are supposed to be good. the fella at the LHS had the arms and I ordered the brace from RC Boyz. So its getting put together this week and then when the braces come I will put them on.

You can't go wrong with the RPM stuff. I know they have great customer support and warranty.

I have it all put together kinda, I have to wait till tuesday for my new screws with the hex heads on them to actually put it all back on.Man this is one awsome rig with the aluminum tranny and cvd's. The shock towers look awsome with those big bore MIP rods and those bulk head braces will have to hold till next month if I have time to work on it anymore. I also have to put on the roll bar. Oh man I just remembered my in line fuel filter. I will take some pics soon and show yall what has happened to my rig in the past 5 weeks. Thanks for all the answers to my questions. I am sure to have more. Wayne
