Can I put an image in my sig?

How do some of you get the banner/picture things into your sig? I tried putting it as an image but that didn't work(as you can tell). Do you have to have a certain number of posts?

First your sig is to large, please keep all sigs within the 468x60 image size.

Second this sig would work (if it was small enough) if you removed this from the end of the sig:
