At my LHS, they told me I built my clutch wrong. They said that when you spin it, it should spin freely. I built the way they told me in the manual, but it's still not free. I noticed that when you take out that part that surrounds the piston, when you spin the clutch it spins freely, when I put it back in, it isn't free. Could this be the problem? If not, how can I fix it?

I think we're going to need some clarification on this one, the clutch is a component of the flywheel and that gets bolted to the crankshaft. I assume you are referring to the clutchbell which has the teeth or gears on it which then turns your transmission. The clutchbell should spin free for sure and we can help you with that but the clutch / flywheel should be secureley bolted down on the crankshaft. Let us know and we'll get you running.

Oh, sorry. I thought the whole thing was the clutch. It's the clutchbell that doesn't spin free.

No worries, does it spin freely before you tighten that center screw down, if it does but then starts binding when you do tighten it down the most likely cause is you need to get the whole assembly shimmed correctly but if its dragging a bit even before its all tightened down I'd have a look at the bearings that it rides on and make sure that they're not cooked.

Lemme go check.

Oops! I found out that I have too many washers in it, keeping it snug tight. I'm guess that's the problem. I need to remove some washers to let it loose, right?
