I'm getting ready to undertake building a 1/10 scale garage/fab shop to park my scalers in, use as a picture background, etc... I'm thinking I will use doll house parts for the doors and things like that, and static model accessories for things like the big lift, jackstands, floor jack, tooks, some machining equipment, etc... I might even make some styrene fab machinery. I will be using photoshop to make scale posters of scantily clad chicks posing with my 1:1 hot rods, 1/10 scale of course. Has anyone built something similar before, or is anyone here into doll houses or anything (it's ok, you can say that your wife is into dollhouses lol).

I spent several years making architectural scale models of housing sites, office and condo towers, air ports, etc. Some cost well over 10Gs, and that was in the mid 80s. I also built the window displays for a store that sold Doll houses.

It's been done Charlie, I have alot of stuff if you need it like tool boxes,1:10 car lift,1:10 floor jack and jack stands.

I just had to show off my old K-5, The tool boxes aren't much just some styrene and a little paint.

One a buddy of mine did.

When Cory had my baby blue Yota.

It was Corys garage from The Scale Shop that got me inspired. I've been wanting to do it since I got my T-Maxx, but I didn't go through with it because the T-Maxx is so anti-scale, it would have looked goofy as hell. But now that I have some scalers, I'm really wanting to go through with it. I'm trying to decide if I should order a doll house kit and make it a shop with a few different rooms (all on one level) and maybe a messanine to store tires and things like that, or if I should just buy the dollhouse materials and build it from scratch. I'm wanting to do a story line with action figures when I build one of my scalers.

Chip I love that K5, it's always been one of my favorite rigs out of the ones that you built. Did Beckworks build the tube chassis for you? I still need you to shoot me a PM with their email address.

Is that Cory's girl that poses in the Miss TSS pics and the calendars? The hot rods pics are cool, but the pictures out on the trail are definitely the best.

That's funny you should say that. That is how I found out about Scale4x4rc, someone had posted a link to a build thread there that is hilarious! Then I started looking around the site and got the scale bug.

Heres the thread where "Jim" builds his truck, lol.

Why not scratch build the shop from styrene. They make it in every conceivable pattern, from siding, to bricks, shingles, diamond plate, whatever you can think of. You can make just about anything from styrene. It's fairly easy to work with too. Get some styrene sheet, and some Plastruct plastweld and your good to go. I had a blast building the interior for my tuber from styrene. I plan on making some cool accessories as well.

I finished the thread. Just ingenious!
I kept wondering why "Jim" looked so familiar, especially since he was always wearing a suit. Then it dawned on me...

Yeah I spent about 2 hours reading that entire thread when I first got into crawlers, and it helped put the scale fever into me. I found it after I saw NC's tuber and got interested in scalers.

I like Carville, he's quite intelligent and quite educated in the political world, but he looks funny as hell. I think I will scratch build most of the stuff from styrene. I will probably use a manufactured lift and floor jack, just because I want it to be REALLY hard to tell that it's a scaler in there and not a full size rig when I take pics, so I will use wooden doors and things like that, but I'll be building the majority of the stuff from styrene like Joe mentioned. I'm already drawing out some toolboxes and handles and such.

Anyone got some good places to order styrene and things like that from? What tools will I need besides a straight edge and razor knife?
