Any one use a buggy tank in a maxx? I tried using a smaller tank (xxx-nt tank) and it seems to make the engine run poorly. I'm running a 21 and I think the 75cc tank doesn't have room for expansion or proper fuel flow or something. I was running lean regardless what I set my needles too.

I'll probably go back to a stock tank, but I've broken 8 of those and was looking for a better fix. I think my rear shock tower was crushing it. I know for a fact that it did it once. I've since replaced my rear shock tower with an aluminum one, so maybe it's a mute point now?

I also tried an aluminum tank from slimline. I really liked the tank, but I hate the screw cap and the inability to see the fuel level.

Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't used one but others do. If you have seen the SuperMaxx chassis they use a buggy tank.

That reminds me... I think new era makes a kit for one.

Anyone recognise this tank?

I'll make my own mounts rather than pay almost $30 for a tank and mounts of which the tank I might break. Reason I ask, is that I can't seem to find just the tank at new era in case I do break it.

EDIT- I think I found it... took some googling though:

Anyone have the measurements of this tank?

Yea thats the tank i have, just my lid is black. what i use to have is.. i did a search and got this.. turns out i already told u 2 months ago how to.. lol.

its a OFNA 1/8th scale 125cc buggy tank. i used a copper tubing like 3/16th inch, and a steel rod 3/16th inch. put the rod through the copper tubing, to kinda make "legs" for the gas tank. drilled 2 holes in the chassie. cut it to length so the tank was maby a 1/4 of a inch off the chassis. the rod goes through the gas tank mounting holes, through the tubing and through the chassie, and on each side i used collars with grub screws to hold in place. i used etc.... i will just take some pic of it tomorrow.. I'm too tired to explain everything now. i also am using a zip tie to hold it in on the front. its not going any where, its pretty much wedged between my roll cage and tranny. one thing that is nice is that it has a bulit in stone fuel filter. plus i got a in-line fuel filter. lowers the center gravity of the truck too. and u get almost all the fuel out of the tank every run. also i have never had a problem with bubbling of the fuel or nothing.

I did a search and came up empty. I knew there was something like this that I had seen. I bought the copper tubing and threaded rod, but couldn't remember the damn tank.

You don't happen to have a pic where it's backed off a bit so I could see it better do you? I don't get why you have a ziptie on it.

i did a search as "buggy" and it was under "show off your truck" or somethin like that. i will work on the pic, i just woke up.. lol. i was using a zip-tie in the front because i had to have the fuel tank up farther becuase the spur gear was catching the back of it. so the front of the tank has resting on the steering servo mounts. didnt want to drill a hole through my servo. so i just put a zip-tie on it and it was wedged between my roll cage and tranny so it wasn't going ne wheres.

*EDIT* I'm not even using my fuel tank stands now because i am using the R/C Raven chassis and there wasn't any material to drill holes in to mount it, so i stuck the fuel tank in between the old throttle mounts and zip-tied it in there.

RC Solutions is making a mount for an OFNA tank, but it won't be for sale until RCX in a few weeks. The tank part number is 19076. The mount is designed for the Cybermaxx kit, so you are on your own to make it fit anything else.

i use a 125cc ofna buggy tank on my xtm .21 conversion...i put the radio box were the stock tank was..and put the 125cc tank were the radio box was...and drilled just one hole for the tank as there is already a hole on the chassis that lines up well. i got the ofna tank from tower and it came with to aluminim post and screws for 10.99. it mounts very well and looks like it was meant to be there.

Except for the fact that you have to put a hole in your hood to use it. I thought about that too, but I don't want to have to pull the body off to fill the tank. And I really don't want that big of a hole in my hood. Or, can you get at it through the wheel well?

If you could, would you post a pic with the body on of the tank side so I could see?

Thanks much!

EDIT-
I just picked up the tank at the LHS on my lunch hour. I'll probably try messing with it tonight.

I like your battery holder. Where did you get that?

Thanks again.

The tank is easy to fill through the windshield cut out. The battery tray is another RC sol product that will be for sale by the RCX show later this month.

check my gallery for more pics of this truck.

i can refill my tank through the hole in my windshield. one finger to open the lid and the other hand to squeeze the fuel in. also my hole is pretty large in my front windshield.

this is how i say it... you can do ANYTHING you want to a T-Maxx. All you need is patience, tools, and an idea. You can put a buggy tank in the maxx. But not with the EZ Start on.

i disagree, i can put the ez-start on my t-maxx that has a buggy tank. just my engine can't use the ez-start plus i hate the ez-start.

maybe so, but if you look at the design of the original tank.. no buggys tank is shaped like that, so the easy start would some how be in the way for a square tank

lol - unless you are racing, there is no reason to fill tanks back to back. If you are, and not racing in a main, you are doing your mill a huge disservice if you ask me.

As for having to remove the body to fuel, well, if you only run the front half, it will only be a couple of clips, and comes off FAST.

Otherwise, I still can't find a reason to run with the body on with a Cyber conversion.

i fill my tank thru the front windshield cooling hole...no prob at all.

buggy tank all the way in the front, nothing around the engine where the ez-start would be. so if i was to put in a engine that will work with the ez-start it would work.

Maxx, I don't think it is a good idea to run the tank sideways like that, unless it doesn't get below half full.

Christian, you should run a body with the RCS cage/cybermaxx. A body lets it slide across the ground, rather than dig in, which can bend the cage.

its tilted back towards the pick nipple and stuff. i could always try to find another place to put it if it doesn't work out where it is now.
