buggy ground clearance and durability?

how good is a buggy at clearing terrain ? I'm either going with another monster truck , or a buggy , my main purpose is gonna be street jumping and baseball fields and grass areas (not long grass). but I'm just curious if the buggy is going to be getting all stuck and stuff all the time or if it will be able to get its way around.

i also question durability , how hard is it to break a buggy ? is it about the same as a savage ? tougher or weaker ?

Buggies have much lower ground clearance than monster trucks but that doesn't seem to stop them. The low center of grivity keeps the buggy planted to the groound, give them really good handling and speed. Buggies are usually just plain and simple faster than MTs. Buggies will get stuck on taller objects quicker than an MT will because all 4 wheels will be lifted off the ground, this usually happens on thigns like large rocks or something of that stort but doesn't happen much.

The durability is equal if not alot better to a monstertruck. They will bottom out on landings but it doesn't seem to bother my Storm too much. If you want some more refrence check out some of my videos(I havent had any real hardcore videos taken yet) or take a look at the house jumping video.

i saw the house jump video that was sick , and a MT def. couldnt do that. i think i will go with a buggy , probably an ofna so i can hook up a 2 speed into it for when i street drive it... yeee haw ! :jet:

Sounds like you got an mt already. If you got an mt, get a buggy. You will have a lot more fun with it. Also, I dont really see the point in getting a secound monster truck.

Two speeds ofical suck on offroad. I mean even if you wanna use it on on road, your still gonna be running off road and will strip gears like they were free. The only 2 speeds for off road are on the MTs and I'm still not to pleased with those. Buggies are just single speed and leave them that way, much better.

I wouldn't buy a buggy soley on tha fact that one owner got it to jump a house. Given 1000 other tries it's highly likely the outcome could have been very different.

With a street car, you're running on the pavement, you keep up speeds, and there's usually a lot more runway. The engine can get up to RPM and stay high, and there's no bumping and bashing of the car all over the place.

Off-road, however, it's a different story. The engine is up and down constantly. The speed changes are abrupt and abundant. You turn a corner at low speed, then have to get as much power as possible to perform a jump. Then the thing lands and smack! Even a great driver smacks the chassis on the ground, it's just the way they work.

If you put a two speed on a buggy, the transmission is going to be constantly shifting all over the place. When you are in the air, it'll shift on you. Then when you land, you gotta go back to the low gear again. Just the way offroads are driven will tear the thing to shreds, not to mention the shock of being bumped around all the time.

Some people like them, I don't think it's a good idea. These things run really fast with a single speed setup anyways. Maybe not 60MPH but for off-road they rip.

Do the racers out there use them? Even a close geared very well tuned 2-speed would show no benifits?

Mt's need 2 speed trannys becuase they simply weigh so much and have huge tires. without a low 1st gear they would take forever to accelrate...on top of overheating the engine while doing so...and for them to have a good top speed worth everyone wanting to get one the higher 2nd gear is needed. buggys have an awesome power to weight ratio..and super efficient drivelines. anyone that doesn't already own an 1/8 buggy and is thiking about putting a 2-speed on it....either go check one out thats bashing around or buy one and find out just how fast they accelrate and top out at...and youll see 2 speeds is not needed for a buggy.

hmmm , yeah i can see how a 2 speed would mess things up a bit on a buggy. so that is a bad idea yeah. I'm not a racer , I'm just a basher. but i think id rather have the single speed

Do all buggies come with metal gears o is that just Storms, 've never took the time to look on another buggy, lol.

most buggys i know of come with all metal gears..except the kyosho inferno sport RTR which i belive comes with a plastic spur gear.
