You guy's have to see this thing in action. Wow is it fast. I noticed that you didn't mention anything about the 5 cell lipo that you have on there now..... Oh sorry guy's I'm new here but I have known Dom for awhile he told me about this forum. So are you gonna have this thing running good by next week. And if Dom is selling this I got first dibs...... :-)

Glad to see you on board Dan. I guess you have 5K burning in your pocket?

It's highly unlikely that the LSP will ever be sold. I am having too much fun with it.

Whoa....not sure how I misseed this one...

That is "DA poop"

You SD are a true craftsman!!!

Cheers!!

Been awhile since I updated this thread so here's a few pics of the layout changes. The ESC now has a larger heatsink epoxied on and has two 40mm fans instead of the 25mm novak fans. The ESC/HS assembly is bolted between the upper frame rails. A nice side benefit to this is now the frame rails also act as part of the heatsink. After a 5 minute run I could feel the heat that was absorbed by the rails.

The maxamps 6000mah 5S lipo provides some pretty good grunt and also lowered the amp draw slightly. Top speed seems a bit higher, not much but the ESC runs much cooler. I made the mistake of running the 5S as a single pack. The chassis is now unbalanced on the pack side by over 1 pound which really upsets the handling. I am going to switch to 3S and 2S packs and run them in series. One pack on each side, with the 2s pack sitting on the motor side. That should give me near equal weight distribution on each side.

With the 5S pack the front unloads much quicker now. The tires balloon so fast it does a mini wheelie if I gun it. Some test video.

Gearing is now at 14/52. Good combination of speed and torque with the 5S pack. And more importantly no more thermals.

I like seeing these builds for the 1st time at the "end". I dont have to wait!!
Very nice build!!

OK man, I am all in on building up a brushless truck. I got a Revo that is my project truck. I will be keeping the stock chassis for the time being until I can get the GorillaMaxx G2R Chassis. I am in the process of building some custom mounts for the battery, receiver and motor. I will be running a Mamba Max ESC, Nue motor, and MaxAmps 4s 6000mah lipo battery. I am gearing if for the track using the stock tranny with locked in 2nd gear. I will shoot some pics soon!

I have been waiting for someone to do this build. I wanted to do the Gorrilla Max conversion also but funds just aren't there at the moment. Which Neu are you running? Are you running single or double packs? I look forward to seeing the finished product!

I spoke with Mike over at RC-Monster - very nice and helpful guy!! If anyone needs help with any brushless needs definitely give him a buzz!
After talking with him and letting him know what I will mainly be doing with the truck he suggested going with a Nue 1512 2.5D and will be running a Single 4S 6000mah pack. Same as running 2 packs but less wiring and less charging. I am looking for around 32-35mph since I will be on small tracks mainly and occasionally on a 1/8 scale style track.

Hey SD, how do you like those beadlocks? Are those the zero offset, or the 1/2?

The beadlocks are 1/2" offset. In terms of performance, I have tested this particular set with GRP tractor and park monster tires. Since the GRP tires have a thick bead and firm rubber compound I have not experienced a bead popping. The new nub design on the rims keep the bead held very tightly. My Maximizers in the past (this is my 3rd set) have had an occasional popped bead when running a soft bead tire such as Proline. I will be testing a set of bowties very soon with this set of wheels to see if popped beads will be an issue.

If the bowties stay secured I will be very happy overall with the wheels. I like that Maximizer has switched to using 3mm screws for the wheels. I no longer have to carry an English size hex driver in my tool box. Not having to glue is the biggest plus in my book. It takes me approximately 15 minutes to change out all four tires which is much faster and easier than having to glue up four wheels and wait for the CA to dry.

The drawback to using these wheels is weight. They weigh about 1 oz more per wheel than traditional wheels. If you are looking for the absolute fastest wheels out there, a traditional set of wheels would be the ticket. For my purpose of bashing, occasional racing, and ease of use and maintenance these fit right in.

Thanks, the last part sealed the deal. I have to go as light as possibile with the Satmpede project b/c of gearing issues. Too bad, I really liked the idea of changing between tires. Oh well, i'll just have to buy more rims. Who said this hobby was cheap?

Sweet ride, man. I've been thinking of a 1/10th scale electric truggy myself.:breakdown

1/10 brushless truggy sounds real interesting. Which platform would you start off with?

I was thinking about doing the Revo on the short chassis or the X-1CRT. If I did the Revo I wouldn't use the transmission. I'd just use the center diff and rear brakes.:write:

I'm currently bidding on a roller chassis on fleabay. Wish me luck.

Killer project hope to see a vid soon of it,there was a guy at the track I run at with a 1/8 scale buggy thing ripped ass good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After the Thanksgiving day crash by my brother in law I had not touched this rig. I finally got some time last night to get her back together. She gained a little weight after Thanksgiving. lol

Medusa Research 36mm X 80mm 2200KV motor. I had to get a new BEC since the crash killed the old one. I'm running the 10 amp Castle unit this time.

Ferris wheel 65T center diff gear to compensate for the larger tires.

IMEX JUMBO Swamp Dawgs. These tires give an extra .5" of ground clearance. Should do well for my backyard.

She'll be running a Thunder Power 25C 5000mah 6S pack. I'll get some backyard bashing video tomorrow.
