I can't remember where but I saw a unit that went around the can and had bolts that held the cover to it so they wouldn't separate. I also saw a mount that held the rear of the can in in place. I dont think your the first one to have this issue. Ill keep looking for the brace units. I just can't remember where I saw them.

I was very anxious to get her back up and running so I tried out some Loctite super glue gel and got the front cover back on. To my surprise it held. Took her out for another spin and was grinning from ear to ear. This thing has pretty good power and is quite responsive. I had to drive with a very smooth trigger finger. At half throttle, she will step sideways if I gun it. Brakes are strong, the wheels lock up from just a slight tap. I dialed out 50% of the brakes with EPA and now she is much easier to slow down. The ESC is set at 50% brake so I'm really only using 25% braking potential. I also went with -75 on the throttle exponential and -50 on the brake exponential. I'll keep those settings for now until I get a better feel for her. After a five minute run I had to take her in because the wife wanted to go to the pumpkin patch. I'll try to get some video tomorrow.
I'd definitely be interested in getting one. I couldn't believe the front cover is only held with glue. At least the rear cover has a setscrew that keeps it in.

Thanks guys. I ran a couple packs last night. Here's what I learned.
One lipo pack is not enough to keep up with the current demands of the 7XL motor. The pack hit 150 degrees hot. No puffing of the pack, but I was definitely freaked out from the heat. So I'm going to run a second pack from now on. I found out for myself that lipo packs can keep a steady current but when they dump it's like a light switch. One minute it's going full speed and then it's barely crawling when the voltage drops. As for the super glue I put on the motor, it held up after running back to back packs (20 minutes) in the parking lot. Don't know if it would hold up offroad. I don't feel like trying that until I get the motor clamped tight. After each pack, the ESC temps were between 95-110 degrees. Motor was 146-150 degrees, which tells me I'm in the ballpark in terms of gearing. Even though the ESC box works, I'm still going to tinker with the internal foam blocks and work on a new mounting location. Also the GRP tractor tires do not do well on pavement. This may explain why the truck keeps stepping sideways when I jam on the throttle.

Quick update before I take her out to play in Petaluma. Firm springs in rear, med springs in front. Got rid of the ESC box and just zip tied the ESC down underneath the rear chassis braces. GRP Park Monster tires fitted for the weekend. Installed a watt meter for testing purposes. Very useful item to figure out how many watts output, amps, voltage, mah used, etc. With the 16T pinion and dual packs she pulls 1814 watts but then thermaled after 5 minutes. Running a 14T in the morning. I'm going to try my best to keep her in one piece tomorrow.
I also threw on a TT ST-1 wing to complete the truggy look. lol

A little update. Body paint is courtesy of NCNitro. My crappy camera cannot catch the details of his work. It is stunning in person.
My new ESC setup with thermal epoxied heatsinks and fans.
I have some mesh I'm going to place over the fans to keep foreign objects out. Gearing is lowered to 13/51. I also swapped out the feigao 7XL for a more efficient neu 1515 1y 2200kv motor. I'm hoping the lowered gearing and esc setup will solve the thermal issues I have been having.

That truck is sweet.... Without incriminating yourself, lol, what kind of price tag does this truck carry as it sits? It certainly doesn't look like a cheap kit...
That lid is beyond words. You need to get it outside in some good light and let your wife do some magic with her camera. We all know who has the talent.

Thanks a lot guys. I am going to ask the wife to take some shots of the car especially of the lid. I will post them up and send a couple in to XRC. NCNitro's work is just incredible.

You guy's have to see this thing in action. Wow is it fast. I noticed that you didn't mention anything about the 5 cell lipo that you have on there now..... Oh sorry guy's I'm new here but I have known Dom for awhile he told me about this forum. So are you gonna have this thing running good by next week. And if Dom is selling this I got first dibs......
