Brushless esc acting up

Hello, I have a Surpass Hobby brushless motor and esc on my Traxxas Rustler 2wd, and I am having some troubles with the esc (I think). After. I run the motor for a bit, it just stops. When I looked at it, I noticed the red led was lit on the esc, which usually indicates the throttle or brakes are engaged. If I roll it, it has resistance like the brakes are on, but it doesn’t make the sound the brakes usually make. I’m no expert on how an esc works, I just know what it does. What could be the issue? I was running in snow, so maybe it’s water damage? Maybe it’s actually the motor?
