FireFox has become unbearably slow. All my 'favorite' buttons were programmed through FF.
I've now downloaded Opera, and no matter what I do, or where I go, I can not set it as the default browser.
If I hit the button to open this site, it takes almost a minute, and still opens with FF.
Who's got the magic advise?

Are you running Windows 7? If so, go to the Control Panel>Default Programs>Set Default Program

I'm on Vista. I've been working on this all day. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Even when I installed a new version of Google Chrome, set as default, the quick start button on their home page was the Firefox download page.
I think it's been jacked, but I don't know how to clear it.
Chrome is lightning fast, but I want my FireFox back.

I just started running Firefox 4 on my mac and I love it right now.. What version firefox are you trying to use?

Just stopped in to say FF4 SUCKS!!! Should have called it "Mozilla Chrome"...

<endrant>

So, you went from an old version of FF, to opera, chrome and now back to FF4 and your default browser doesn't set as FF4? I kind of lost track to what your issue was.

No, I'm using Chrome and trying to set up all my auto fill and pass forms. It sucks. Opera sucked more. I don't want to use IE. I want my FireFox back but I've deleted it again.
It took almost a minute to open.

Any idea if you had an add on that was irritating it? Was it FF4 or FF4 and an older version?

Could try running crap cleaner. It compresses the FF index files to help it run a bit easier. Also scraps all the old temp files.

I'm still running FF 3.6.16 with most of my add ons disabled unless I need one for something. Otherwise, I have gestures, tab mix plus, status bar, logmein, multilink and download status enabled.

Just got back on after rolling back the entire system to a week ago using Roxio BackOnTrack.
Any versions of Opera, Chrome and FF4 have been totally removed as though they were never in there.
When I rebooted, the original FireFox was back, and life has returned to normal.
I always had Roxio GoBack in my computers, but it was not compatible with Vista and had been bought out by Symantec which I also refuse to use anymore.
I just bought the Roxio BackOnTrack a little over a week ago since I had problems with Acronis freezing and being unable to back up.
Roxio already paid for itself.
