Well i broke a rod in my 3.3 i haven't even ran a half of gallon through it. So what do i do now? Get another 3.3 and where, or do i jump off and start searching for a big motor? And i just put on my new pipe on and i was idling around to warm it up and it locked up.....

Contact Traxxas about it. They may replace it. Half a gallon is real premature.

Buy a new one? Why not just buy a new rod.

Typically, when you snap a rod, it destroys the engine internally for the most part. I've seen 3 break. When they broke, the shards scored the piston/sleeve and the rod was kicked so hard to the side by the crank that it bent the sleeve badly. One of the 3 busted the crankshaft in the process where the intake journal is.

None of which were a TRX engine... all OS21RG's.

Traxxas support sucks. They are more moody than a pms'n crackhoe. I called in my first gallon of fuel, and they were all bitchy the first time, i figured someone was having a bad day, so i called back the next day, and they were like you can send the engine to us, but we will probably just send it back to you. We dont warranty nitro engines because people just run them and expect us to replace them when they screw somthing up. GO LOSI!!!!

Had the same problem. Everything was going great during the breaking in of the engine, I was on the 5th tank of gas, reving to full throttle for the 3 second plus 2 second count, it was shifting into the next gear several times and then suddenly piston got suck at tdc. I opened the engine and found that the bottom circular section of the connecting rod was broken. I followed all break in procedures in the book for the engine. I have broken in several other engines with no problems. did your Hobby store replace? Have you tried customer support at Traxxas. Seems like a definate manufacturer defect.
