In late 2015/ early 2016 I had some life changing events in my life and parked my RC hobby in the basement. I luckily had left my LIPOs charged but now I can't remember how much. Recently I brought the boxes back up and realized I had not cared or checked the LIPOs.

I recycled the puffed up LIPOs and now I'm left with a few of them but I don't know where to start. Do I check the voltage, do I try charging them? I'm a nitro guy so don't have too much experience in LIPOS, I have the obvious understanding, how to balance and charge and store.

Can someone help? Advise-or can I drop them off at your house to check them out for me :)

If you have a balance charger, just balance charge them and see how they do.

My charger also discharges. Not sure how normal that is, seems fairly normal these days. Could try balance charging them up then discharging them just to see how they handle it, then charge them back up again and try and use them to see how they handle it. You would just want to keep a close eye on them the first couple cycles.

@olds97_lss. Is right IMO. Whatever you do, DEFINITELY put them in a 'Lipo bag' and DO NOT leave their side during the process. Use a thermometer if possible but even if it's just checking how they feel by hand, monitor their temps. Warm is ok... Hot is BAD and discontinue immediately!

Thanks both, what temperature beyond do I stop, I have a lipo bag and will use it.

I e read numerous times that the MAXIMUM temp is 140°F. I would not push it to that of I were you. I would also strongly urge you to look up or contact you battery manufacturer to verify safe operating and charging temperatures.

Mike Olds so far all ok, charged 4 packs with my Hyperion Charger then the LBA10 balance board was not flashing. So I switched to this new charger from SKYRC I bought in Hong Kong it has a touch screen, balance chart and individual cells listed. I am using a LIPO bag, all ok so far. Thanks for your help

so if it has charged ok can there still be problem during discharging (i.e. while running a vehicle). I guess I should stop the car every so often and use a temp gun?

I would keep an eye on it at least for the first couple runs. Its always a good idea to know that you're not overheating your motor, esc and the batteries anyways.
